Hi Everyone,

Wow everyone's dates are getting sooo close!  Kmathes I can't believe how close yours is!  Are you feeling like everything is mostly together?

Shayla your pictures are incredible!  Like, really, really beautiful!  Was the location close to the resort?  I am so excited to be doing a TTD shoot after seeing how well your pictures turned out.

Chrestena thanks for the back up about the OOT bags.  I'm not too concerned, this is one friend who has lots of $$ lol, so I expected something like that to be said somewhere along the way!

Try not to worry too much about the no rehearsal.  I'm sort of nervous about that too, and like you, it's more because I want myself to know what's going on haha.  It seems pretty common for DWs not to always have a real rehearsal.  I feel like at the end of the day we always here how together these planners have everything.  Vanessa did tell me straight up that she wouldn't be there for an acutal 'rehearsal' either.  I honestly think things just go smoothly.  I've heard too many great stories to worry too much.

The one thing I'm wondering is if you ladies are writing your whole ceremonies, if you're writing your vows, or if you're just having someone else say it all?  Because we're being legally married in Canada, we will just be having a renewal of vows that will appear real lol.  I am wondering how it will all go off.  I'm slightly controlling over wanting to know what will be spoken at our ceremony so that it's meaningful for us.

My one other situation right now is trying to find a junior bridesmaids dress for our JB which I originally ordered in the same colour as my girls' dresses by the same designer in a similar style.  Well now they apparently don't make the dress in that colour - I find out now!  So I need to find another dress.  I'm not sure if I should try to match the colour, the style, or just go with something altogether different because it may be impossible at this time.  We were already not even getting her dress until June!

As for the DJ app, I haven't played around with it too much more.  Tyrel decided he wanted a DJ so I was focussed on finding us someone.  I will still definitely be using it though for the ceremony so I'll let you know how it goes when I do try it out a bit more.  I need to download some songs first.  That's something that's going to take a LOT of time!

I'm nervous that I'll be hiding away the next month.  Until March 27th I am absolutely slammed at work starting on Monday so if I'm not on as frequently know I'm thinking of all of you and I really hope I don't miss anything too big!  I'll keep peeking by when I'm procrastinating, I'm sure!

Talk to you soon, ladies and good luck if I miss you!

Lauren

Hey sorry I haven't officially booked Jan 3rd but am planning on doing so whenever we can book for 2014! Rocio said to ask her again end of March when they will be taking bookings for 2014. When are you planning for Sarah?!
I was originally wanting an end of November date but just when I was about to book it through the travel agent the Palladium emailed me and said there were no November spots left. Must be popular!!! But it all worked out... Booked December 3rd, 2pm...booked the Portfinio terrace for dinner and not to sure about the cocktail hours. Wanted to do a beach cocktail party at night...does anyone have any experience or suggestions about this? I seen on the website 'beach party $1400 with bonfire and tiki torches' Grace the weddinf coordinator doesnt know what I mean by bonfire and says the wedding packages on the website arent accurate so I guess Ill have to wait to confirm it...is there a location i should be asking to reserve for the cocktails on the beach at night? I want to reserve it before its taken

Hey Sarah! I also saw the beach party on the Palladium wedding website and thought that would be an awesome idea & when I mentioned it to my mom she thought my aunts & the older relatives would probably prefer that to just going to the disco or to a sitting bar after the supper. I messaged Rocio about it & she said it can be added to any wedding package and she seemed to know what I was talking about. I was also a little concerned because our wedding will be on a Friday and on Friday's they have the beach bonfire so I was wondering if that would make a difference for me - she said that the beach bonfire date depends on whats happening that week and also that they are in different locations from the 'Private Beach Bash' so it wouldnt affect anything!

Omygosh! 87 Shayla, your pictures came out so beautifully! I hope my TTD comes out just as nice as yours!

50 more days and counting for my wedding in April 19!! Vanessa Roldan said that she can do a little bit of a rehearsal at the Church without the priest the night before our big day.

Right now I'm still waiting on other guests to book their hotel and flights. Still waiting on six guests!

My gown is being made in the Philippines. It's been a difficult process since I can't actually try out the gown and feel the material. I have a girlfriend who had her gown done by Edward Teng. The gown came with accessories liek the veils and garter, candles, matching ring pillow, coins, gloves, and clutch bag.

I just went on the website and posted my measurements on EdwardTeng.com. He emailed me back with prices and packages. He sent me 4 sketches until I decided on this gown. He's sent me pics of updates on the gowns.

My cousin went back there to pick my gown, the flowergirl, my mother's , FMI, and Mike's aunt's gowns. I'm so anxious! I just want that gown to get here safe. Mike is so much taller than me too so I'll def be wearing heels! I bought wedge flipflops for my aching tootsies for later in the reception.

I have to print out the wedding programs, waiting on the Nihil Obstat from our parsih priest, and the gowns!

Hi everyone,

It's been over a week since I have been able to get on here but a lot has happened since I have been on! I love reading everyone's posts!

Lauren and Karen- Thank you for all of your advice.  I think you are right I will invite anyone that I would like to be apart of that day, and those who did not know me as well at the time of invitations will understand and Im sure will not think ill of me inviting them-I certainly wouldn't if I was in their shoes.  I think too much "politics" and "etiquette" as you mentioned is put into a wedding, and when it all boils down to it, each situation is different and it really should be a happy time!  I think I worry too much about what other people think, when I should do what is right for me.  So I am throwing etiquette out of the window and going with the flow!

Lauren- I am not planning on having an AHR because we are putting all of our money into the actual wedding I wouldn't be able to afford anything at all, not even a backyard gettogether.  My mom had mentioned my Opa putting something together possibly as in something small, but nothing has been said to me about it yet.  I think an AHR is a lovely idea and would do it if I could but I just don't have the means for it, nor can I imagine going through the invitation process again!!

I also think it is perfectly normal and acceptable (but even still we are not worried about etiquette right ;) ) to invite those ppl that declined the wedding invitation to the shower.  They probably would be expecting to get the shower invite and that may be their only way of "showing you they are there for your big day" and if you were to not invite them, they could feel snuffed or left out, and that wouldn't be good.  I would totally invite them, and if they can't make it then that would be for them to decide, but at least you included them! :)

It sounds like you have lots of people that care about making this special for you, for throwing little showers for you.  Enjoy it and don't worry too much about it. We only get to be brides once (thats our goal anyways haha) so live it up!!  Oh and about worrying about you having a different meal than your guests-I would not even give that a second thought-it is your wedding so eat whatever you want! Especially since you CAN'T eat what everyone else is eating.  Besides, the only people that would even really notice would be the people sitting up with you.  I would not notice as a guest, and even if i did I wouldn't think anything of it!

I also agree with Chrestena with the OOT bags- that they are PLENTY enough. I am sorry to hear about your daughter, doing the donation in memory of your daughter Avery is a lovely idea and so sweet.  I am opting for not doing OOT bags only because I don't want the hassle of trying to bring everything down with me, and my guests are all on the same flight as me so going to get the stuff in mexico wouldn't be an option for us.  So we are going to do favours but we have NO clue yet what to do! I wanted to do our favourite candies (him gummy bears and mine m&m's) in our wedding colours (coral and torquoise) but I am worried about them melting!  And I don't want to get something that the guests just toss to the side-at least you can eat candy!   But we have some time still to figure that one out.  My husband's family is all from Mexico so I don't know if doing a traditional Mexican favour would be as unique as it would be received by my family.

Karen- we have decided to do a scavenger hunt as well but havn't started compiling our list yet.  I was going to sneak a peek at yours for some ideas but I can't load it (could be that my work has blocked it haha) so i will try again at home.  Are you offering a prize for it? Are you going to print it out and give it to your guests and then give them a timeline or how do you think you will organize it?

Shayla- Congratulations on your wedding! Your pictures are so pretty and it makes me look forward to doing this myself all that much more!  How and when did you choose your bouquet flowers/bouteneirs/and flowers for decoration at the ceremony site and reception? Did you send her pictures or choose from her email selections, and when did you finalize it all? Do they have a large selection of flowers to choose from on site all the time or should I be requesting ahead of time?

You had mentioned that a wedding group got kicked out of the restaurant after their cake cutting and that makes me super nervous because we were "thinking" of chosing that option since it was free-but my fiance is concerned with the short time frame they give us and knowing this would solidify him choosing the private reception-even if its a couple thousand dollars...  I have a question about the decoration of the room for the reception-we chose La Laguna, how much does it cost to have the fabric, lights flowers etc to decorate that room? (if you dont mind me asking) I know the dinner is 50-60 per plate, but I don't know the cost of decoration.  I want to make sure it doesnt look bare in there (since we are only going to have around 20 guests) i want to ensure its decorated very nicely.

We are doing all of the legal stuff here in Canada first (although we have not even began to look into how or when to do that yet) also, and we are having a "vow renewal" ceremony however NONE of our guests will know this, so we are also keeping it a secret so it's great to know that they do a great job at keeping the ceremony as if it were legally binding.  Perez and Claire we are all within three weeks of each other! We are staying for two weeks (arriving on the 7th) and so we may just run into one another or maybe see another's wedding taking place!  I hope they all are amazing!

Sarah519-I don't know if it has changed, but when I was asking about a beach party I was told they didn't do that, and couldn't do a beach reception, but maybe it has changed since then! That would be amazing and I would totally love that!

What is everyone's men wearing for shoes?? Johnny and his best man are wearing light grey linen pants and a white linen shirt from Tommy Bahama's but hasn't decided on footware yet.  Also for the ladies? I am not sure what we should do.  At first I thought of foot jewelry but then I realized the sand could be really hot on my feet so Ive decided against it.

Im also having a rough go at finding a bright coral dress for my bridesmaid.  At david's bridal the coral they showed me wasn't bright it was soft, and I thought since i only have one girl, maybe the malls would have bright coral but I am not having any luck.  Anyone see anything in any malls around them that was a nice bright coral that would suit for a bridesmaid dress?? I live near London Ontario and would travel a bit to go to a store that had something not too expensive!

Wow this is long lol, I am going to put these fingers to rest now!

Hi Jengullage,

If you have around 20 guests you don't have to pay for te $50-60 dinner. You pay if you have over 40 guests. They would section off part of a restaurant. They usually do Portofino. There is a section outside that's similar to la Laguna The ceiling decorations are $150.They also do lanterns for each table free. They also decorate the floor going up La Laguna with floor lanterns also free. La Laguna is one of the open air buffets. I saw the choices for flowers and they are so pretty. Vanessa Roldan sent me designs and prices of flowers from Casa Narciso.I actually booked with Vanessa Jaimes. Her prices are lower.

Your choice for of outfits sounds wonderful! The colors will really pop! The sand does get hot during the day. Flipflops are def the way to go!

Hey Jengullage,

Let me know if you still can't open the scavenger hunt and we can figure out something different.

Yes, I hope to buy some prizes there so they will be Mexican themed.  We are printing it out and putting it on Card stock so its firm and easy to carry and not get all wrecked. Also adding pencils.  We are making them this weekend so I will take a picture and post so you can see what we did.  My sister is into making cards and scrap booking so she has been wonderful with the ideas.  We are also making name tags for the table for seating and also a Just Married/Thank you banner in my colors of   Pink, Blue, Orange & Yellow.  I will post pics of these once its all done.

So I am exactly 5 weeks today for our wedding, and 30 sleeps until we leave for Mexico.  Getting super excited and after this weekend the only thing I have left on my list is the dance music playlist to put together.   Oh and so far I am loving that Wedding DJ app.  it's perfect.

I am a little nervous though as I have sent 2 emails to my wedding coordinator and no response, its been over 3 Weeks.. So I'm freakin out a little as I have so many questions.

If I don't hear from her by Monday I will get my Travel Agent involved.

Shoes...   my bridesmaids found some cute sandals they liked and I found some beautiful ones from Tommy Bahamas that have lots of sparkle and a wedge heel so not too high but still a bit.  I never wear high heels so would be so uncomfortable if I did for my wedding.  I love my shoes, so cute and super comfy and I will wear again and again.  LOL

The men are wearing brown Sanuk flip flops.  again super comfy.

Shayla - your pictures are stunning, congratulation.  We are doing a beach trash the dress, no underwater pics.  I'm a little sad but I just could not afford it.  But I think we will get some amazing pictures in the ocean on the beach. LOL

Happy Planning everyone,

Karen

Thanks for the comments about the pics ladies, I'm trying my best to be patient as we wait for the rest to come in the mail.

kmmathes & Chrestena: If I was to change anything on that day I would have used my list of photos that i had taken there with me, to give to the photographer so that i didn't miss any photos that i wanted to make sure we took. However i forgot to give the sheet to the photographer and there is a few people that i didnt get pictures with because it ends up being such a rushed whirl wind and i forgot.

To make it go more smoothly...we didn't have any troubles with this but we were constantly reminding people where to be and when to be there all week long so that it was less of a panic the morning of.  I would also suggest buying the face blotting sheets, I was quite warm in my dress and they did an amazing job blotting the sweat without ruining my makeup. And one last thing, i wish i would have went to the front desk in the lobby the night before the wedding and asked for some more bottles of water. We were all wanting water while getting ready and there wasn't enough in the fridge to keep everyone happy. :)

We had no rehersal, Grace was our WC not Rocio (we didnt find this out until we went to our meeting) however Grace did a fantastic job! I only seen her 1 before the actual ceremony and thats when she dropped off my boquet, She didn't have any other info for me other then the time the cart was coming to pick us all up. She must have did a great job briefing the boys and the parents (who walked down the isle as well) because they all seemed to know where they were supposed to be. Everything went well even though there is no rehersal. As long as you mention to your WC how you want things to happen during your meeting then there should be no worries :)

MyTye2B: Our TTD photos were in a cenote that was only 5 minutes away, they are everywhere along the highway though so i would imagine it would all depend on which one your photographer prefers.

Mikeycelle: So excited for you!!!!! It's going to be here before you know it :)

Jengullage: The flowers....there was an email sent not long before we left for mexico and the type of boquet i liked. However i was hoping to get calla lilies. At the meeting i was asked what kind of boquet i wanted,,,,hmm i was pretty sure this was discussed but ok what about calla lillies?? She said that to get that type of flower generally you need 2 weeks notice, and it is obviously an extra cost. She called the florist to see if there happen to be some available, but there wasnt. So i then mentioned the picture that had been emailed to me before we left. WC didn't know what i was talking about. They do have a huge book you can flip through and pick out of, but she let me get on her computer and bring up the email so she was able to have that boquet made for me. So, if you are looking for a very specific flower, i suggest making sure they know exactly what you want well in advance of getting there, And i would maybe suggest taking copies of your emails about the flowers, or make sure you have access to your email to show them. Just incase. The flowers that they offer without extra charge are fairly cookie cutter, but they are beautiful.

Karenk: your ocean and beach TTD will be great, i wish we could have done a combination of them both. Was just so much fun!

I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
