How exciting! 41 days! I know from our previous visit last April 2012, the weddings that were going on on the resort were just beautiful!

Just get ready for bugs. I'm bringing mosquito coils with us to ward them off La Laguna lol. Maybe 4 . One for each corner in the open air restaurant. Hopefully it works! We're having wedding sparklers lit for our wedding entrance. I really wanted fireworks on the beach like Palace Resorts but understandably, it would be harmful to the natural environment. I also wanted a horse and carriage to take us to the Church and then to the restaurant. Grand Palladium does not do this. Just those special elements that make you feel like princess are missing in this resort. I would've gone with Palace but we fell in love with GP and the Church onsite.

Other than that, I pray you have beautiful weather on your wedding day!

Hi Mikeycelle,

I can't wait till your wedding now to hear how fantastic it is :)  You have a large wedding party, it sounds amazing though with so many people involved! That's great you managed to get a DJ booked also, have you thought about a photographer yet?  That's the only thing we have done except actually booking up

Is it free for meals even if you do a private reception in La Laguna???

If you go for a private reception you will pay per person $50-60, however if you have less than 40 guests you can dine for free (included in the cost) in one of the restaurants.  The photos of Portofino lok amazing and really quite private despite being 'in' a restaurant because you get sole use of the terrace area

 Hi claire0701,

Yes, we have a photographer! My friends Carol and Chris of Benchwerk Photography, NYC. Luckily they have a timeshare in the Riviera Maya. They'll also be staying in GP for the week. We have DJ Doremixx booked, Lit dance floor and cold fireworks for 5 hours.

Our cinematographer is Augustin Lira of Cinematic Riviera Maya. I'm getting the centerpieces and church flowers from the recommended florist Casa Narciso. I had prices and pictures emailed by Vanessa Roldan so we can choose what we like.

The bouquet I wanted is crazy expensive! I wanted cattleya orchids. You would think a tropical nation would have cheaper tropical flowers but no!  So I think I'm going with Alquimia Events to do my bridal bouquet and  5 bridesmaids bouquet of red roses and pink orchids. They gave me a better quote.

Haha! Yes we do have a large wedding party! I have a large family and he has a small family. We wanted a traditional wedding in a very non traditional setting.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
