LOL! I hear ya! It will still end up being smaller than if we were doing it here at home :)

I haven;t done too much planning since the last time I updated everyone on here. Got the FI and GM outfits ordered, AMAZING deal at Moores as we are getting everything 50% off! Just booked an appt for my dress fitting at the end of Sept. Once final numbers are in (end of Sept) I am going to do some more OOT shopping. I want to get started on decor, etc. For ladies who were married already, how didyou go about this? Did you bring stuff with you?

Haha, fair enough!  That`s amazing that so many people are willing to travel!

I have my dress ordered, it should arrive any day now.  I just ordered all the BM dresses, so FH just needs to get his suit and the GM`s things.  There are some trunk shows coming up that he`s planning on going to!  I just sent Rocio an email to find out about the room situation, I want to know if it`s possible to know where we`ll be so that we can choose La Laguna or Gran Azul.  We`ve decided to skip the OOT bags, I just don`t have the patience for it...  embarrassingly enough.  We`re going to put more love into our favours instead!  Decor - we`re just doing the basic, I think the location will be more than enough.  Whatever comes with the package!

We had our reception at La Laguna and just loved it.  I was happy with my choice when I got there.  La Laguna is a bit more secluded and (maybe it was just a slower time when we were there) but just seemed quieter.  It is surrounded by pools... while Gran Azul is surrounded more by jungle than pools.

We were staying at the Colonial and it wasn't a problem to make it there and back.  They will arrange for transportation for you and your guests on the wedding day.

I'm trying to decide between La Laguna and Gran Azul...  any advice?

Stephy - how many decisions were you able to make before you went down there? Did Rocio send you some sort of package with menu options, flowers, decor, etc?

Hi everyone,

First of all THANKS for all your amazing advice! We have been trying to make a decision on location for our DW for a few weeks and after reading all of your posts we have decided on GP which we are super excited about!

I have one question  wonder if anyone knows the answer to . . .

Would it be possible to have wedding ceremony followed by dinner in an A La Carte (we're thinking Portofino) and then move on to a cocktail type reception at Las Rocas where we could play some music and have some dancing?  As far as I can see this would be the only way to have some private dancing without having to shell out a small fortune for private meal reception?

Haven't emailed Rocio yet as our date is over a year away at the moment but I'd love to hear any advice or experience you have about this.

Thanks again

I spoke with Rocio and she said that we can choose our flowers, cake, and ceremony site upon arrival, but we must choose our reception location and menu before hand (assuming you're having a private reception).  The location has to be reserved ASAP to ensure that you get it.  She sent me photos of some bouquets they do, as well as photos of La Laguna and Gran Azul to compare.  We've reserved La Laguna - we're staying at Kantenah but it's 10 minutes to get there with the train and a short walk.

Everything was picked before hand.

I had external vendors for the flowers and cake, but Rocio had sent me pictures of the flowers they offered at the resort.

At the time of planning, I was told that you could have dinner at one of the a-la-carte restaurants and have a ''dance reception'' at another location (like Las Rocas) afterwards.  I remember a past bride saying that she had done it before too... maybe I've read it in a different thread?

I'm assuming you'd still have to pay a cocktail fee per person if you want drinks and service available.  I believe that the cocktail fee is about 5$ per person (without appetizers).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
