We are getting legally married in Mexico. Yes, you need to be in Mexico for 3 business days before getting married. I arrive on Saturday morning, but cannot get married until Thursday!

Hi!

Congrats on getting your date and time! Have you booked your reception venue yet? I just sent Rocio an email to see if she can reserve La Laguna for us. I love the pool setting.

Other than that, planning is going okay I think. I'm puttering around everyday doing something wedding related, even if its just research and getting ideas. I'm off for the summer so I;m lucky I have the time to do this :) Finalized deposit with our photographer (Sascha Gluck), bridesmaids dresses should be arriving shortly. I originally ordered the multi-way dresses from Victoria Secret, but one of my sisters is quite tall (5'10') and it was scandalously short, so I sent them ALL back, then found similar ones on Beyond the Rack. Have you heard of this website? It's incredible! I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of badgley mischka shoes (on sale for $99!), but I'm going to hold out for some cobalt blue shoes to match my BM dresses. My dress is in but I've decided not to go to for a fitting until the fall. If you are looking for dresses, seriously check out BTR. You need to sign up on their website, or send me a PM and I will send you the invitation. They have dresses for sale almost every day. You need to check often because they have limited stock and sales only last 1-3 days.

Current projects:

1) getting my passport invites outs. They are at the printer and should be out by the end of the week. My mother and I are addressing all the envelopes tomorrow

2) finding suits for the guys. Where are you looking?

3) getting my OOT bags together. I've been shopping around, taking pics of things at different places so I can get the best prices. I'd like to have these organized before I go back to work in September

4) p90x! Started the program 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling great! Got 6 months to get a rockin beach body :)

I finally heard back from Rocio - I'm getting married January 26th, 2012 at 4:00!  I'm so excited!

How's the planning going?  What are you guys doing now?  I'm trying to get my "invites" done (everyone who is coming has already made their deposit, so it's more of an info thing), I'm trying to get a website up...  and I'm pushing FH to get some appointments made for suits.  I need to get my BM dresses too...  and I guess any clothing/shoes that we'll be wearing then.  It's so hard having to buy the clothes so far in advance, with the seasons changing!

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed - 6 months!  Any tips as to what I should be doing/have done at this point?  Anyone know where I can find a "to do" checklist?

I received a response from Rocio, and she informed me that there will be no charge for that photographer (not even a day pass) if he is only going ot be there for 3 hours.

I also have confirmed that we can be married (symbolic) on the 22nd when we arrive on the 19th.  So another plus.  We are getting legally married before we get there to make things easier, and be able to gt married sooner after arrival.

Things are starting to come together.  She will be sending me the paperwork to confirm the date.

I am thinking about using Juan Navarro for our photography.  He has been great to deal with so far through emails.  Has anyone else used them on this site, I had seen the vender reviews, and i really love his work.

I can't wait to get everything organized to really start to get into the planning.

Has anyone used the canadian destination wedding company called weddings by oceans?  I am thinking about using them for our travel arrangements.

I haven't booked the reception venue - didn't realize I should so soon!  I think we're also going with La Laguna - what are the other options? (I'm sure I could find the answer but I'm feeling spectacularly lazy, apologies)!

I'm doing coloured shoes too!!!  My BM's are wearing marine blue, and my MOH is wearing coral.  I'm going to wear the blue shoes :)  I haven't started looking yet, probably early-mid August so I can get them on sale =P  I'll have to check out the website for the dresses, I'm a bit nervous ordering online...  I've never ordered clothing online and am a bit worried about doing it with this.  I think I might have to take it into consideration though!  I'll PM you my email addy!

Suits - I'm not really sure.  FH is adamant about me not seeing his suit or knowing what he's wearing...  so I have no idea.  He's really procrastinating and I'm getting super nervous as TODAY marks 6 months until our WEDDING DAY!  Insane!  I don't feel so far behind though...  we have our photographer, I have my dress...  so I guess we aren't that badly off haha.

(to hold myself accountable)

My current projects:

1)  Get invites completed and sent!

2)  Get website up and running

3)  Force FH to get his stuff together, make appointments for BM/GM attire

4)  TTD dress - shop for!

No cost for a photographer?! Great news! I was going to go with Juan Navaro and he has had some amazing reviews so I think that's a great choice! I ended up booking Sascha Gluck. I'm excited! I like his photojournalist style. It's unique!

Congrats on getting all of the good news from Rocio! She's really on the ball this week. LOL. I just got an email back confirming my wedding time (4:00) and my reception venue (La Laguna). Woo! I haven't heard of weddings by oceans. Have you tried doing a search of all the threads? I;m sure someone on BDW has.

@ Jena -  OOT = Out Of Town bag. They are gift/welcome bags for guests.

We are expecting 50ish people too so I'm trying to keep it around $50 per/person. So far we have the bags, sunglasses, and pashminas. I;m shopping around for everything else and I'm waiting til I get my RSVPs back before I order most things. We are going to include mugs, decks of cards, advil, immodium, tums, aloe, sewing kit, key card holder, lanyard, kleenex, gum... we'll see where we are in terms of price after that! If you are looking for ideas, check out the Canadian OOT where to buy thread. It's really great!

What are you thinking of including?

Manda - Thanks :)  She has been getting back to my emails quick, I usually hear back from hr the next day.

I looked into your photographer as well and liked his style, but I love the creativity of Juan's photos, I think we both made good choices :) He also said he would hold me date until I received confimration from Rocio.  I also spoke to him about my at home reception, as I was worried it may be cutting it close as to when I would receive the pictures back from him.  So he said he would most likely be able to get them to me on time, but if not he would create an online slideshow of 200 images for me to display at the at home reception to put me at ease.  I was really impressed by that, and it made my decision for me :)

I am hoping everything will be finalize this week.  I actually searched on this site about that travel company nd it seems to have mixed reviews.  So thanks for the advice :)

Wow, you ladies have been busy lately!!  I've been so caught up in things going on here and planning for our AHR that is taking place on Saturday, I've spent very little time on here.  I'm still going to answer a few questions...just to have a second answer!!

My FI and I are trying to work out our plan for the week.

First, we were thinking of doing some sort of welcome party. We arrive on New Years Eve in the morning, so that night is out since I think the resort has some sort of gala. Maybe a welcome brunch? How does this work? Do we need to reserve part of a restaurant? Is there a seperate charge?

Also, what did you do for a rehearsal dinner?

Last, did you do any excursions? Mayan ruins?

Thanks!

We did something very similar to Stephy, where we did a welcomed inner at one of the buffets.  We had 21 additional people there and didn't want to have to set a menu either.  We had arranged it with Rocio and she was suppose to have us booked in one of the corners of the buffets, but she didn't do that.  She just said we'd have a group of 23 people going in, so that caused a few hiccups at first, but I was able to work it out with the "manager" on duty.  There was no additional charge for this.

We didn't do a rehearsal dinner, that was essentially our welcome dinner because everyone but us got there the day before the wedding.

We didn't do any excursions.  We really wanted to, and then I decided instead of going ziplining and ATVing, I would rather do the jetski's that were setup right on the beach at the resort.  Every time we went, it was either full for the day, or the waves were too high.  Actually, now that I think about it, DH did a deep-sea fishing trip with all the guys that went down.  They had a lot of fun, after everyone got over their sea-sickness!

Welcome!!  I think your questions have been answered, but I did wanted to say welcome to the board and congrats!!

For me it took almost a week.

We did most of what you are doing, minus the mugs and the deck of cards.  Our two biggest hits (outside of the bag for people to carry things around in, because they hadn't really thought of that) were the keycard holders with lanyards, and the aloe.  I searched and searched and SEARCHED for the aloe because I knew people would forget it.  It was a savior for many people.  I ended up finding mine on Amazon, because not of the stores around me had it for as cheap as I could find it on there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
