Had I used a photographer from Mexico, I would have gone with Claudia Rodriguez, who is the photographer that Stephy used...  We brought our own photographer with us though because we got such a good deal from a local one, and got so many more pictures/time for the money!

Check out the reviews on here though, that should be helpful!  I know the resort also recommends like 3 or 4 photographers (I asked Rocio for their recommendations).

So frustrating! Did you fill out the date request forms and email them to her? Or are you just waiting to see if the day is even available? She was pretty quick when we were communicating about putting down my deposit, but once that was booked I haven't been able to get ahold of her. I would like to book my photog but I would like to give him/her the timeframe!

When do you arrrive at the resort? I wonder if we will be there at the same time? I'm there Dec 31-Jan 7. Our flight times were just confirmed and we will be in Mexico by 10am on New Years Eve, which means we will be there for their big gala. WOO!

We have very close wedding dates, mine is January 9, 2012. I am having the same problem, I am not getting a response from Rocio. I even tried calling the wedding department today twice but no one answers. I really want my day to be confirmed already so I can send out invites and book everything else. Hope she responds to both of us soon.

We used Claudia Rodriguez for our photography.  I haven't done my review yet since we're not fully done dealing with her yet.  It's a bit hard for me to recommend her since she lost some of our pictures (memory card failure, apparently) and refuses to send us her memory card.  If you want me to be honest, I believe she is lying about it...

Anyways!  I would recommend Citali Rico from Claudia's team.  She's really good.

DelSol are also amazing, though a big more expensive.  Elizabeth Medina is also good, Fer Juaristi as well... La Luna is DelSol's sister company and is a bit cheaper but also has amazing photographers.

If you ask Rocio, she will probably recommend Claudia.  She seems pretty close to her and even called her when I told her we had problems with our pictures and wrote me back telling me how good Claudia is and yadayadayada...

Both DelSol and Elizabeth Medina do AMAZING work!

Hey ladies,

I haven't really been around for a bit - took the babe to Vancouver for a couple of weeks to see the family!

Anyways, when I said that our date was confirmed, I guess it was a bit premature and I misunderstood at some point.  We're still waiting - had a bunch of issues with the forms (Rocio kept telling us that the photocopies weren't clear enough of the CC and ID) and now we're waiting to hear back from her.  I sent her an email today and hubby is calling her tomorrow.  She said we were "penciled in" but she hasn't taken out the deposit or anything so we don't know what's going on.  I'm a bit concerned...  she never said anything about times either, so still waiting for that.

I'm a January 2012 bride - we're supposed to be married the 26th, there the 22nd-29th.

For you who are already married - what did you do for your honeymoon?  Anyone go elsewhere?  How did your tickets work with that - we have already made our deposit for flight/resort, but don't know what happens if we want to go elsewhere (we have been told that his brother will fly us to Singapore and Asia for a honeymoon!)

Hi Ella,

I requested 4pm when we confirmed our date, but Rocio said she still needed to wait with the officiant to confirm the time. My graphic designer is waiting for the confirmation of time for our wedding invites! So frustrating! I did finally hear back from Rocio about a week ago and she said that the officiant would be able to confirm the time within a couple of weeks... So I hope that means by the end of this week?!

We were "penciled in" for awhile...  because I wanted to make sure the date/time worked for everything else we were working on.  Finally when we confirmed everything and sent in the copies of the CC and DL, it still took over a week for the deposit to come out... maybe even a month now that I think about it.

We didn't go anywhere else for our honeymoon.  We were very content with staying right there at the resort!  Stephy went somewhere else on her honeymoon though, maybe Maui?!  She'd be the one to ask!!

Ahh, yes, the officiant is your delay.  I do remember that now... sorry, I totally forgot about that.  He just has to make sure he doesn't have any others (at other resorts) at that time.  I hope that is done soon!!  Looking back, I don't know if I waited to do up some of my invites and stuff for the confirmation.  I think I may have just put time of ceremony is "TBD" so that I could get things sent out!

I think I'm going to do that too, Ella. Did you put the location for the ceremony and reception on your invites? I'm pretty dead set on the beach gazebo for the ceremony. NOt sure about the reception yet. I should be able to book that when I confirm ceremony time, right?

I did put the location of the ceremony, even though I didn't have it confirmed.  I didn't think it would be a problem, because they only do one ceremony at a time at the resort, so you shouldn't have a problem getting the venue, unless it's raining or something...  I didn't put anything about the reception because we hadn't made a decision on that until about a month or two before the actual date...

The other thing I did to keep our guests up-to-date was a website specifically for the DW, and just did all the updates on the website.  Once I updated it, I would send a message out to some of the guests (the ones I knew really cared about the details, and would check it) to let them know things were updated!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
