Oh, and an update on our pictures: Claudia is sending our DVD with 3000+ edited pictures with FedEx TODAY!! Yay! :))) She is setting up the online gallery and it should be ready next weekend. Then next Monday, she is sending us another DVD with 200-300 pictures that have made it through the 2nd round of editing. On top of that, she is letting me pick ALL of the pictures for our photobook. I'm excited! I can't wait to share some of our pictures :)))

See, and for you Steph, you had different requirements/expectations I think then I had (no offense to you), it's one of those things where it all depends on what is important to you.  I didn't mind doing the play lists or get the music there.  I didn't need anything extra (lighting, dry fireworks), because it just didn't matter to me.  We did have a smaller group than you did, and maybe that's another piece of my decision.  It's just a matter of what you want and what you are willing to pay for.

Also, you orignally weren't doing the AHR... that's where we planned on doing most of our dancing and that's where we care more, so even though we may not even be getting a DJ for the AHR, my focus for music has always been there instead of our reception.

I'm so glad to hear about your pictures Steph!!!!  So exciting!  I'm sure they'll be worth the wait!!

I totally agree with everything you just said.  It's all about personal expectations and wants.

No offense taken :)

Thanks for the tips. Now how am I supposed to decide..LOL

We aren't having an AHR, so I see that side now too.

I think we are going to go overbudget on photography a little so I',m gonna have to make a cut somewhere - or pay a little after the wedding, something we said we weren't gonna do.

So what's a girl to do? Flip a coin?! :)

Manda, look at everything...to include how much you would be going over budget.  Depending on that factor, maybe it's worth it?  If its a crazy amount over budget, then you have to decide what is right for you.  Like I said, look at all party...  flowers, favors, decorations...  see if there is something else you can live without if you really want to hire a DJ...

Steph, I'm glad we could share our opinions and not offend either one of us!!

Hey ladies,

May sound like a strange Q, but can you have fires on the beach or anywhere on the resort?

Also, what did you guys do for your gifts to your bridal party?  We're trying to think of ideas!

Looks like we got our day!  January 26th, 2012, at 4:00 =)

Not sure on the fires... I can't say I saw them anywhere, but that doesn't need anything...

For the bridal party, I made them special bags for the OOT bags.  I also got each of them special earrings and then paid for 1/2 of their hair/make-up at the spa....

Congrats on getting your day!!  It's a wonderful thing when things work out!!!

Congrats on getting your day + time!!!!!  YAY!  That's so exciting :) :) :)

As for fires, I didn't see any at all while we were there... I'm not sure what their policy is about it.

As for gifts, for our girls: I paid for their hair + makeup (we had the Styling Trio from Playa del Carmen come to our room), I bought their jewelry for the wedding day, bought them each a tank top that said ''Bridesmaid'' or ''Maid of honor'', also bought them a ''Love knot necklace'' from Etsy and a body lotion from Bath & Body Works.  For our guys: we bought their ties to match their suits, a tequila bottle and a bunch of little nic-nacs (sp?)... a beer glass, beer bottle markers, golf glove, special golf tees...

Congrats on getting your date, JND! I'm glad it worked out!

For gifts, I'm planning on buying my girl's their dresses. I've already them from Victoria's Secret - the convertible dress. Not sure what we are going to do for the guys. If it is too expensive to buy their suits, my FI wants to pay for an excursion, like Scuba diving or something.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
