Thanks, Manda!  Really appreciate it =)

I got a quote from Manna (sp?) for just under $1000.

Stephy I would be freaking out about the pictures. I don't get why you don't have even a online gallery yet. I'm getting pictures done by her too. Hopefully she gets everything together soon!

I booked DJ bob, Decided the costs were not too bad since we have about 55 people making the trip. =)

It is clearly written in our contract that are pictures are to be delivered 6-8 weeks after the wedding day. (online gallery AND our picture DVD and photobook)

Stephy when you emailed her what did she say? I think you should be getting atleast a discount on the package you paid for or a extra photobook or something!

Why exactly do you think I should be getting a discount? The contract says 6 to 8 weeks and it's only been 7 weeks. She said she's been extremely busy with shooting weddings almost every day. She had all of our pictures edited and received a newer version of Photoshop and decided to re-edit all of our pictures with the new effects. She's suppose to send up the first batch of pictures early this week and will send the pictures with the new edits later on. Plus, we booked her for 9 hours and did a TTD that lasted 4 hours... She has a ton of pictures to go through. I wasn't expecting to get my pictures right away anyways.

I know Steph said that she thinks you'd be okay, but I don't think it'd be that great of a setup if you did it at the garden gazebo.  The beach gazebo would be setup much better for the amount of people you have going.  Also like Steph said, you do have the option of any location because they do one wedding at a time.

Steph, I hope you get them soon!  If it says 6-8 weeks, and it's only week 7, there isn't anything you can do...but wait.  Claudia is in such demand that she is always busy, so it's just a waiting game...as hard as that is...  =(

For those who haven't booked a DJ yet, if you or your FI are tech-savvy, doing it with an iPod is a great option...  I'm not that tech savvy, and I did it all by myself for our 4 hour reception...  Because it turned out so well, we are doing the same thing for our AHR, just to cut costs (and allow more money to be spent on other things)!!

We didn't have anyone picked out for the MC.  It actually wasn't something I had ever heard of until seeing it on here, which I'm thankful for because with Erika asked who our MC was, DH didn't know what she was talking about.  We ended up having the bestman do it, and then he actually rolled right into his toast!

I couldn't imagine paying for a DJ, especially $1k's... (no offense to anyone that has) but I could see doing it when they have the whole setup right there and you can do individual playlists on the iPod and then put it on shuffle.  We had three different playlists.  We had the ceremony, dinner, and dance...and just put them on shuffle.  If there was a song that no one was really feeling during the dancing part we either used it as our break, or I went up and pushed it to the next song.

I'll give my input as a bride who hired a DJ. Look at us arguing, Ellabaja ;) Also no offense to everyone who didn't hire a DJ. For my part, I really didn't want to have to worry about doing anything our reception. I didn't want to stress on a playlist and I didn't want to assign any of our guest to man the ipod either. 1000$ can seem like a lot but to us, it was all worth it. Our DJ brought a nice energy to the reception, the music was great, they provided dry fireworks, they also installed some great lights and spotlights which helped set the mood and gave a nice glow to the room and they brought out balloons for our guests to play with when the party started. All in all, I think the DJ made the night even more fun! That's it for my two cents on the topic :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
