Hi Ladies,

I am thinking of having my reception at a villa and am trying to get an idea on what catering might cost. I have contacted a few companies but haven't heard back from any of them so I thought I would reach out to you ladies.

Any information would be SO helpful right now.

Thanks!

Nicole

We are doing the reception at a villa and the quotes we've received for just food ranges from $50-70pp for passed appetizers, salad and main course depending on the selection. But you also have to figure in cost of table/chair rentals, linens, silverware, kitchen staff, bar staff, etc. They are providing alcohol, mixers, soft drinks, bottled water and beer as well, for 4 hours and coffee service. We just have to supply wine and champagne. So with all that figured in, plus 10% tax, it ends up being about $120-$150pp. In the end, we may not save that much, but we figured at least we have the flexibility to allow the party to go on longer and we can continue providing alcohol for our guests by stocking up at Costco. wink.gif

i have quotes from the Lazy Gourmet and also for a few other catering companies in Cabo San Lucas ( i can forward you them if you like)--the beauty is that you can look at menus, tell them what type of food you like and a price range and they can create you a menu within your budget. Just like MrsTorrence stated above, anything extra (tables, chairs, wait staff, clean-up, etc is factored in--our latest quote for all of that was $300-700 more....) so it just depends on how much you want to spend, how many people you are attending, etc. good luck!

Another thing you can do, which is what I did, is try asking some of your favorite restaurants in the area if they cater. A lot of times, because their business doesn't just focus solely on catering events, the prices will be cheaper and more reasonable.

I am having my wedding in Akumal, Mexico and a restaurant in town, which we LOVE, is catering our wedding reception. The owner of the restaurant also happens to be my wedding coordinator :)

Per person we're looking at about $65 per person for a cocktail and passed appetizer hour after the ceremony, a buffet dinner which includes five entrees (beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, and a pasta dish), three stationary appetizers, two salads, four sides, a small wedding cake with cupcakes for the guests, drinks (punch, lemonade, bottled water, peach champagne) and open bar (we will provide our own alcohol, beer, wine and from Costco but this price also includes our hired bartenders). Oh yeah, that per person price also includes linens, chairs, tables, taxes and tips, etc.

When we were scoping out other venues (resorts, private catering companies, etc.), the per person charge was astronomical ~ definitely outta our budget. So my best advice is to really do some leg work, make some phone calls, send out emails and see what kind of response you get. Luckily Cabo has tons of great restaurants to check on. I truly think there's something out there for everyone's taste and budget!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
