Help! Trying to book with Dreams P.V.!

Recommended Posts

i did not use their photographer, but if it's the same person that did the photographs during the day, they were ok. plain pics, nothing artsy, etc. the videographer was ok - that part wasn't important to us (tho looking back, we wish we had some things on video) and we got what we paid for.

i decided to go around Dreams and go with a travel agent that works with them. She got me a really good rate and did all the leg work for me. Kristen from DD recommended her. Gaby is too overwhelmed, but the travel agent helped me out greatly. The only bad thing is you have to put up quite a large amount of money to secure the rooms (which you get in return), but its a large sum...warning you in advance. PM me if you want her info.

In response to Kisa's info about holding rooms. We booked 20 rooms for May 09' at the Dreams and had to put down $2000 which we will get back after the wedding. Our guests have already fulfilled our 20 rooms plus, so that puts my mind at ease. This did secure a rate of $108 pp per day, which I felt was great. Please let me know if someone else got a better rate.

As far as having a wedding. I know someone who has a great villa sleeps 10 people and can accommodate a wedding of approx 30 people and the villa during off season is only $700 a night. Which is great divided by 10 people. There is other villas near by for other guests or they can stay at the Dreams. If you would like more info let me know.

Happy Planning..... Again I know Kristin from Dazzling Details comes with a fee but it is totally worth every penny. smile123.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

Just about Dreams and outside WC's - other WC's do and are allowed to work at Dreams ... such as Incredible Weddings, Vows Vallarta, Prisar, among others.

However, with that said, most of these coordinators work some resorts more frequently than others for various reasons - much of it having to do with the relationship they have personally with the on-site WC - you know - the more you work in a place, the more you know how it works, the better you know the people, the easier it is to get things done. Just so you know :):).

Thanks for the clarification. I know when I called the Dreams Resort, they told me if I wanted an outside coordinator to work with DD, so I figured they either really liked them or this was the only company they would work with.

But great information for other brides who are chosing to go with a different coordinator.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means more amazing weddings at The Dreams Resort.

Oh and by the way I called the resort last week and they said they got a new WC themselves and this may be why brides are getting a delayed response.

Mishka did you work with DD, I noticed a number of your pictures are the same ones on their site?

So sorry Kathy Thomas.... Teresa the TA has been great to work with. My guest have only had to put down a one night deposit on their room, then the other half in Nov and the final payment in April. This is working very well for them and makes me happy they don't feel one big financial hit.

Best

Kathy

Hello! :) Yes, the resort does have a new WC and she's trying to get caught-up to speed - I believe her name is Diana. Hotels, just like coordinators, have favorites and TDD has developed a good relationship with them (Dreams), so it doesn't surprise me that they recommend them.

And, yes, I use to work for TDD for 2 years as their designer, along with my now partner, Omar. We stopped working with them at the end of the season (in june) of 2007. :):)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
