Hey - ok so Mehndi was a huge worry of mine as well, so what I did was I got it done the night before leaving for Cabo, I slept with it on and in the morning before the flight scraped it off and did the cloves on the stove and oil and all the things they tell you to do to make it dark - but I did not wash it with water/soap. So, the entire next day, it continued to get darker and darker. Then when I needed to shower, I got these plastic gloves from CVS pharmacy in the medical area they are made for people who have casts on I guess...anyways that helped, but my feet got lighter cause I didnt cover them. I could not go in the beach or pool before the wedding cause Chlorine or Salt Water will definitely lighten it. So basically it was really dark still at the wedding, I attached a pic of it 5 days after getting it put on. Also make sure your mehndi lady knows you want it super dark, maybe she can make the mehndi so that it will get dark somehow.

Also, I had so much stuff to take that what I did was I split it all up and put stuff in see-through plastic bags, and labeled them with what is inside, and gave them to other people who were coming to bring in their luggage. That way everything got to Cabo and noone got stopped in customs for having a lot of stuff that they think you might sell down there. Also, all my bridal stuff we put in carry on luggage just so that it couldnt get lost if a bag didnt make it and then I would not have anything to wear haha...so all those precautions helped.

Let me know if you need help with stuff, I am in post-wedding lots of time on my hands mode!

ps. ok I guess the pic is too big for me to attach, so here is a link to it: Content Not Found | Facebook

I see this post is super old, but my mother is Indian and I do want to have SOMETHING from my heritage in there. I too would love to have Mehndi, and am thinking about it the day before we leave. Any more recent brides have experience with doing it before you go? I am also debating between my hands or my feet...

Where in Mexico are you getting married?  I am just starting to plan my Indian DW and have NO idea what country to even do it in!  I was leaning towards Dominican Republic, but now I keep seeing Indian brides doing it in Mexico -- I'm starting to sense that no matter where it is, I'm going to have to take most of the stuff with me...

Hi Ladies! I realize this is a pretty old thread but in case someone is still around - could anyone share what they finally ended up doing? Was anyone able to find an affordable local artist/vendor in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen area???? Thanks!!!

See my post above, unfortunately, they're the only ones I know of in the area... I'm bringing my own person to Cancun as a guest.

Wow, I have been on a crazy search for a Mehndi Artist for my Jamaica Wedding in September 2013 and, so far, have been dissapointed as the only one recommended by my Pandit does not have very professional looking intricate designs. I was planning on having my soon-to-be sister in law do my bridal mehndi, but really wanted a vendor for my guests. Can you share the Mehndi Artist you found with me? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
