My friend worked with the Marriott's WC named Laura. She's from the midwest and was living and working in St Thomas. Here's what she had to say:

She (Laura) was AWESOME!! We e-mailed her a ton, and then set up a call to go over my many, many questions. We talked for over an hour with her. She was also awesome on-site, directing us and helping us with whatever we needed for the day. The only bump we had was our minister who had a root canal the day before and his pain meds weren't kicking in, so he was acting a little weird during the ceremony. We thought he was drunk. I emailed Laura after we returned to let her know about the weird situation and she called me directly after speaking with him to explain his situation. He hadn't wanted to cancel on us (despite the pain) because he knew we wouldn't be able to get another minister on such short notice. I thought her follow through with my discontentment was very thorough and professional.

We've been working with Laura Jakubisyn for our group room booking at the Marriott. We're not having our wedding at the Marriott, but our guests are staying there. So far she's been great! I can PM you her email if you want it...

April, another WC, lives next door to my future in-laws on St Thomas - they said she's really sweet! We're going down to St Thomas on the 8th and will likely meet both Laura and April if you want me to ask them anything!

FYI - Laura is out of town Sep 13-23. :)

Too funny that you "know" April.

She is my wedding coordinator and is super sweet. Just seems very busy (but she is very responsive, so not a ding on her).

We missed the gazebo (already booked I think?) and will be getting married on their private beach. It's man-made, so sand on top of rocks. But I think it will be secluded and more private.

I started in late March for a November wedding- so a little over 6 months? Their responsiveness really has been fabulous.

PM me if you have any other questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
