Dreams Cancun receptions finishe @ 9pm WTF ?!

Recommended Posts

My friends and fam are big partiers too. Our time is the same as Kats but I think that we'll probably just end up taking over the lobby bar afterwards if they boot us. There is no way that we are going to end the festivities at 9pm. I'll let you all know how this works out in a few weeks!! Keep your fingers crossed.

Jodey, you are not being too narrow minded and you don't have to leave them alone!! You have every right to want to have the reception you envision. Have you talked to her? What did she say? An option is to give the sound guy some more money that night (don't arrange it through dreams) and then just head to the bar that is right there on the terrace for drinks. The only thing that might stop that is if they have a noise curfew in place-- in that case it is the ballroom and I would rather head to a new joint after boogying on the terrace. Hope your phone call went well!!

I anticipate our group moving on to a different bar as the night progresses but it will be really tacky to have staff shooing every one away and scraping tables around at the stroke of 9:00. I don't think they'll do that but if I were you, I would anticipate moving on at 9:30 or so. smile124.gif SusanK reported that some hotel guests were complaining about the noise and the staffers came and turned it down and she told them H to the No and turned it back up because she paid to have her reception go until 11:00. They might have changed their policy because of noise complaints?? Just speculation...

I would keep bargaining on the stereo equipment start time but worst case, don't rent it for 3 hours, just 2 hours and have it start after dinner because it's a RIP OFF anyways. Kathi will give us the DL very soon! By the way Jodey, your new pics are SO CUTE!
There is NOOO WAY I would have turned the music down either!! Good for her!LOL! I can certainly see where this would be a problem for other guests but I am on the freaking beach! I hope This will not be an issue with me. I was planning on adding an hour to my reception and skipping the cocktail hour.

Hi there,

My conversation didn't go very well at all and I ended up getting quite annoyed. I didn't get to speak to Gaby but I spoke to the other co-ordinator ( temporarily forgot her name ) I got the impression she could speak good english and understood me well but I didn't get anywhere.... All she kept saying was " If you want a longer reception you pay for it " I felt quite upset because I was trying to explain what I would like and I was asking her why we had to pay for the waiter service when there is a bar close by and she just didn't seem to have an answer. It has left me quite bitter actually and no conclusion was come to. I've had no email from her or Gaby so I've now decided to take a big step back and wait untill we are there to decide what to do but I am NOT paying extra for waiter service. I hate feeling like this because I think of myself to be quite a laid back easy going person, I'm sure it will turn out fine.......

there is definitely not a 9pm curfew, because they do some receptions 8-11 on the terrace (that's actually the time she put on my contract, but i'm trying to get it changed since my ceremony is at 4 ... they definitely screwed up). let me tell you, if i pay for a reception from 8-11, we are partying from 8-11, and there's no way they can tell me to keep the noise down. if they are having problems with guests of the resort complaining about noise, then they should not offer late night receptions so close to the rooms! their problem, not mine!

They definitely booted us after the 3 hours. We were in the ballroom though and I think that they had to set up for something. It was really no big deal. We just walked outside to the lobby bar and took the place over. I swear, it wasn't a big deal at all!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
