Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I am having my wedding at DPA on October 29, 2009. It is so reassuring to be in contact with other people having their weddings at the same place! I picked DPA because my past experiences with the Dreams resorts have been positive and I just fill like DPA is a good fit for both my and my FI's tastes and preferences. I will probably be asking a lot of questions in the future but I don't even know what questions to ask at this point! This is all very exciting!

I am talking with my travel agent right now about the possibility of reserving a block of rooms for the wedding guests. There is quite a penalty for not filling up the block of rooms reserved (around $150 per person!) My family tends to do things last minute and I worry about them all waiting until the last minute to book their rooms and not being able to because the resort is full. Anyone had any problems with this?

We decided against booking rooms because of the penalty, but we don't have that many people coming and most are already booked.

Is anyone planning on using the gazebo and decorating it? Did you get any current pictures from Jacy?

I have some ideas, but its hard when I haven't actually been there.

Does it have anyone else concerned?

I normally try to let these reviews slide, but this one does make me a little nervous...
I've read her posts. The way I see it, I cannnot let it make me concerned. I am getting married at Dreams Puerto Aventuras and it will be the best and only wedding I will ever have. So what if I hear some music in the background or if I have an audience on the beach. It is my wedding and it will be perfect. I think my laid back side comes in to play here, but I can't be worried that DPA may not have been the best choice or whatever. I have stuff to get done and I need to focus on that.

I agree completely, Bianca...I am not super concerned with the actual ceremony (I expect to have an audience and that it obviously will not be quiet), it is more with our guests being content. We have mostly couples going who are around our age and I want them to have a great time. We do have a couple kids going, but they are age 11 and 15.

I am def. not having doubts about my selection, just my first freak-out over whether everyone will have a great time...

Wow-I just read her review and I have to say that she sounds very negative. it is funny how people can only see the bad in places.

Since I was there I will try to combate the things she said as best I can and I will be honest...

1-the beach-yes, trash does float uin, BUT every day I saw someone rake and clean all the trash from the beach-that is not Dreams' fault but the other people in the area

2-The wedding gazebo is away from the beach and you will not hear any children playing there

3-The beach is small but it was not an issue-plenty of area to lay out and lounge and when we were there, the sun was shining the entire time

4-the food...we had excellent food the entire time. Oceana isn't "romantic" it is by the marina and is really pretty actually-it is open air and the food was AWESOME

All I can say is this, my future husband is very very very judgemental-we went to Negril last year for a weekend and he HATED it-we stayed at Sandals-at one point on our trip, he asked me why we were not getting married here. He has been telling all of our friends what an awesome place it was...

I hope this makes you future PA brides feel a little better.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
