Are you absolutely set on having your wedding day on a Saturday?

That's weird about the 6pm wedding. I haven't heard of that before. I feel like the rules change with each bride at DPA.

I am going to have my wedding @ DPA on June 18, 2011..I just emailed Jacy about it with my info.

Here is the email from Jacy:

"We are glad to inform you that the wedding date is available as follow:

Wedding Date : June 18th , 2011

Time: 17:00 hrs (An extra $55usd will apply for ceremonies after 5pm)"

So, now I'm confused, but I will just go with the 55 since i am not sure which package I want!

I agree with Ginalyn- seems like the rules change with every DPA bride. I got married on Feb 27th at 5pm and by 6ish it was getting quite dark. I had the Ultimate Package but did not have to pay extra $$ for my specific time. I wanted a sunset reception and dusk pictures and that time work well for us. Not sure about the timeline of when the sun sets in May but I'd maybe check that out. Just an FYI since I got married later in the day too.

Also, for the reception it says there that we can only pick one appetizer, one soup, one main coursehuh.gif? That doesn't make sensehuh.gif

Are you doing a welcome/rehearsal dinner? Does anyone have a budget spreadsheet that would be willling to sharehuh.gif I'm trying to figure out my budget and i'm so confused!

Thanks

Well I'm just back from DPA so here's the small details I can add. If you're having a reception AT 5pm then I don't think you have to pay the additional fee but if you're having a ceremony LATER than 5pm (say at 6pm like you wanted) then you might have the extra fee although I'm not sure why.

It sounds like you got a date now that you're happy with so that's awesome! As for picking a package, you don't really have to decide on that right away so you can wait and see how many people you end up booking and that might help work out your costs. We went with the most basic package (Wedding in Paradise I think?!) for which there was no cost and then paid for our reception meal separately. It was $25 per person, all plated (with GREAT service) and included a salad, soup, main course and dessert (separate from our cake) and all our guests seemed happy with the quantity. White and red house wine were served all through dinner, as well as any drinks that guests wanted to order. We had 33 people in total and didn't hear of anyone else going for buffet afterwards wink.gif

Finally, I've got a couple different budget spreadsheets I think on my work computer but I won't have access to them for another day or so (yay for time off still!) but will try to get them posted soon!

Meghan! Congrats on your wedding! And thanks for the advice! I do feel a little better!
Although i had a rough day today, both people who complained about my original resort - Zoetry - being too expensive (and that's why I am changing to DPA) - one bridesmaid just backed out from the wedding party, and her husband is FI's best man, so they will still be going. And the other couple, who both are on wedding party, just emailed me saying they don't know if they will come since they are also getting married next year...

But, yes, I feel better with what you said, and I'm looking forward to your spreadsheet!
My email is daniela.1217@yahoo.com just in case

Yay Meghan! I'm so glad you are back and a Mrs. now! I can't wait to hear everything!

Congrats Daniela on picking a date! Sorry to hear about your wedding party drama. Sometimes it seems like bridesmaids are more work then they are worth... I'll let you know if I still that way after the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
