We are getting married in October 2010. I did hear back from Sandra to confirm my date, but am not thrilled about it so I am going to see what else they might have available.

Especially thank you for all the pictures, it helps to see the real deal and not just the resort brochures!
Welcome to our thread! Hopefully some of the comments/reviews here helped in your decision to choose DPA!

You mentioned not being happy with the date Sandra had given you in October - was it not the date you originally had in mind, or the wrong time etc?

I have a question that everyone here may answer much faster than Sandra... she said the ceremony comes with 10 chairs and it is $5 for each one after that. I paid a $100 deposit to hold my date, do they let you use that toward something when you get there (say, a bunch more chairs?) haha.

And seriously, she has to "check with the other brides that day and see if they will move their time" for me to have it later than 3:00 for April 2011. Boy oh boy. I will not get stressed though, that's forever away. I just hope she didn't put me for the wrong year.

Hey Ginalyn,

Im looking at your pictures again and i forgot how beautiful you look!

I noticed that you had the mexican band that probably came with the ultimate package that you got. (Im going with the same thing).

Im wondering if they play the music for the entire ceremony, meaning the prelude, prcessoional and recessional? Did you have the option or you just chose your own? cause i remember you said that they had played the wrong order of the songs.

If anyone has any info much appreciated!

I leave in 1 week! AHH

I'm pretty sure we were able to use the deposit towards "extra" things. Just make sure to ask for it when you are sitting with Sandra when she does her calculations or else they won't consider it. When we met with Sandra to go over wedding details she did all the calculations in pesos. You don't have to pay at that point, you just have to pay at some point before your wedding. Before we paid, DH and I went back to our room with our list of charges and we made sure to convert pesos to dollars to make sure we weren't getting overcharged for anything.

You already have another bride on the same day for 2011? Wow...don't let it stress you, there was another wedding on my day and I didn't really notice!!

The Mariachi band came out during the recessional. We did a champagne toast at the gazebo after the ceremony and then they band followed us and our guests to the Barracuda bar for our cocktail hour (there is a picture the band, DH and I, and our guests in a line marching from the gazebo to the bar...I don't know how we ended up in a single file line but it's pretty funny!). They played throughout our cocktail hour.

WOW! thanks for the quick response. That means I am going to have to find my own music for the cermony.
Thanks for the heads up!

I am not too sure if I like the mariachi band, I may go with the sax or violinist.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the peace of mind! My mom just keeps saying "those Mexicans just want our money!" It's a joke, she's isn't racist, just being funny. I remind her the wedding ceremony package will be "complimentary" so of course we would get charged for chairs. Just to get the little arch thing with "basic decorations" for the beach ceremony would be about $700. I am opting for no arch because I can't get my head around that.

I have no idea how someone else would already have the same date as me. I replied to her email and made sure to write 2011 like that to be sure she got my year right!! HAHA.

I too am not sure about the mariachi band....I asked Jacy about the other options and only heard about the violinist. On the other hand....mariachi sounds really fun! (Mom-in-law asked for there not to be a mariachi band.....)

I asked Jacy about the Caribbean Trio. She responded "About the Caribbean trio, they use a 2 guitars and maracas. The music is more like romantic. I will look for samples and will send them to you so you can have an idea."

Also she gave me the dimensions of the gazebo. "The columns of the gazebo are 2mt high. And across the crossbars of the gazebo is like 3mt wide."

Ginalynn, Thanks for the heads up about the pesos!

Welcome Buckeye and Sassy :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
