Thank you everyone for the wonderful compliments. Sorry for the delay in thanking everyone. :)

Janna the resort did my hair but I did my makeup :)

Make sure if you do have the resort do your hair give them plenty of time. I was freaking cuz I had them do my nails and toes. And the resort scheduled me at 10:30 Am well it took her a while to do my nails ( I just had them painted) then it was 12:00 PM and she still didn't start on my hair yet. So allow a lot of time :) She finished at 1:00 but it was too close for me lol.

Hey Girls

Wow I have so much to catch up on! Mylene we may be at the resort at the same time! Im arriving on the 19!

Ginalyn and those who already had their big day -- did you have to pay extra to have the beach reception? I want my reception either on the beach or in the gazebo but not sure if I have to pay for it.

Ahh It's getting soo close, less than 3 months away!

Cheers

Rain

Hi rain fall, from what I heard, you can choose the gazebo or beach for the reception and your guests just have to pay for their menu, you can choose a 18, 20 or 22 $ menu for everyone. Also from what I heard...You still have to pay this amount for a restaurant reception anyways!

I will probably choose the gazebo, more special and also more private.

I also will also bring my ipod with music and hope they can connect it to the gazebo speakers. I also heard (lol) that they do that for free. I am not cheap but I want to spend my money on all my 2 weeks vacation and not just that day!

I will be there when you get there, the family leaves before but we stay until the 23rd! We could meet and I could answer your questions! Time goes by so fast now, I can't wait!

I did not pay extra to have the beach reception. I had the Ultimate Package (but I don't know if that makes a difference). My reception was on the beach by the lagoon (more private). The other girl who had a wedding on the same day had her reception on the beach by the gazebo (where the volleyball court is). Since my reception was in a more private area, we barely noticed there was another reception going on around the same time.

ouf, I still don t know about the reception, I want it to be private and special, so outside. I am leaning towards the gazebo because we could use the speakers but I think I would rather be by the lagoon. I just find its ridiculous to pay by the hour for the sound system. I have my own music (ipod and dock) . We are the only wedding on the 15th so I guess we will take a look and choose there! Just want to make the best choice!

Mylene... if you already have an ipod and docking station, why aren't you just using that by the lagoon for your music? I may have missed if you mentioned before about your reasons. Or if you think your docking station won't be loud enough then maybe look into bringing down another set of speakers that does give you better sound? I agree that paying the higher fees for something so simple doesn't seem right, but if you're buying and bringing your own speakers then at least you know they're something you can keep using once you get home again!

I agree with you echo, I was thinking the same thing and yes I am afraid the speakers wont be loud enough, especially by the ocean with the wind and waves. Something we can check when we get there. We are a small group so if it works well, I agree with you that I should go with the lagoon, it seems like a very intimate and romantic spot! What did you choose?

The first quote took nearly two weeks, but this new one took them about three days?!?! So now I'm considering another call to Jacy about getting the actual date we want. I just want to get something booked and in stone!!!!!!!

As for my dress, I had earlier thought that I might wait until September to even start looking but then realized that if I had a six month window I wouldn' thave much time. I think I'd heard about the bridal fair in september but no details really. I'll keep shopping in the meantime and if I haven't completely fallen in love with one by then, I'll for sure check it out! Have you heard about any trunk sales coming up at all? I wasn't sure if those are only posted by individual locations... more homework I guess!
Hi Ladies,

I'm leaving for my wedding 1 week from today and am getting pretty stressed abut the last minute stuff. However, when I ordered my dress they said up to 6 months too, but it was ready in about 3-4. I think like everything else in life they need to cover their butts. Every store is different though and I wouldn't wait too long as you'll also need to make appts for alterations etc. I picked mine up last week and....it's still perfect!!!!. Just make sure you don't continue trying on dresses after you buy yours....that way no regrets. Hope it all goes well for you (and me too!) I haven't been on much cuz I'm crazy busy, but will try and post a review when I get back!

Meghan,

So sorry for the delay in answering your decoration question.

I love the hanging orchids as well but I'm not sure where I'd hang them. I'm afraid they might blow in our faces during the ceremony. I was thinking fishing weights... but I don't think they are heavy enough for the gazebo maybe around the reception site.

so I'm thinking these beads

Large Teardrop Beaded Curtain ~ Clear

I want to drape a few stands like curtain on either side of the gazebo. I think if they are tied back at least they won't hit us in the face.

I also wanted to soften the gazebo. My bridesmaid suggested we drape organza down each leg of the gazebo all attached to the ceiling of the gazebo.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
