Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Emily - welcome to the DPA thread! How long are you going to be at the resort after your wedding? I'll be getting there on April 12th so it'd be exciting to hear how your wedding was if we're both there at the same time! Our actual wedding date isn't until the end of that week on the 16th. What wedding pkg are you doing?

Dee - that storm yesterday was RIDICULOUS! I'm in the very north end of Calgary and it got us more than friends of ours 20 minutes south even. LOL, for the second time this season our bbq was rolling across the deck too! Last time it toppled right off but this time we caught it - literally! Hope you survive without your internet over the next few weeks. I'm not sure what kind of farming you have, but all I can picture is cows tipping over right now LOL! What a crazy bit of weather that was!

Wow...ladies, I cant believe the weather was THAT crazy...I heard about the warning. I was in Red Deer and Ponoka area yest. Dee sorry to hear about the damage you suffered, thats terrible. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

So I went to S2 today, ordered my dress. They were able to do the measurements right there! I think there was communication break down, so glad I didn't show up at Sonias for a fitting...weird though. Seems like the two girls are on diff pages. Nontheless...dress IS ordered and expect mid-end of January! Which is great, I didnt expect it to arrive so soon.

Also went to the Bridal Expo today...great resources for local weddings...a few travel agencies there. They also had Ethos and House of Brides huge wedding dress sale. There were also registries and options for invitations, Buttercream bakery and options for cakes. Actually a great assortment of things. However, not as helpful for destination weddings I didn't find.

Welcome to the Forum Emily!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)

Hey Ladies, fiance was so worried about not having internet so he can keep an eye on grain prices and tractor porn lol he bought me an air card. Lol tractor porn is what I call when he browses all the new and used stuff for sale hehe. So I am back up and running. YAY. I know the wind today is still ridiculous not as high as other night but ok. I should really take some pics and show you guys. There were spruce trees 4 feet to 5 feet around ripped totally out of the ground. Sad amount of destruction. Anyways I am back and running. Talk soon.

Hehe, don't worry about the extra posts Emily! I think we've all had the same issues once or twice :)

We're with the paradise package right now too, but I doubt that we'll be upgrading. We knew from the beginning that we would definitely have more than 20 people for our wedding so right away the additional costs for the reception alone were adding up really, really quickly.

A couple of the other girls had mentioned that there were other reception options in the price range of $18-45USD/plate and I heard from Jacy yesterday and she is talking with the chef and the food/beverage manager to find out what kind of menu would be available. And I think because we have larger numbers, around 50 ppl, our meal may have to be a buffet which I think will be okay if it is a more private reception. We figured this was a better option for us, even if it does mean paying a bit extra for the other add-ons.

We haven't figured out where to have our reception yet either. That's next on the list, because I know there are a couple other weddings on our date already. So far it doesn't seem to be any of the girls on this site though sad.gif

Wow haven't been on in awhile.

Welcome Emily! - I was wanting a rehearsal dinner as well until I heard about Ginalynn's experience (posted in this thread, I think). It sounded really informal so now I'm thinking I'll have the wedding party meet up for the rehearsal and then we'll just eat together... or not. Since everyone is going to b together for at least 3 nights I figure I don't want to make my wedding party eat at a certain resturaunt every nite (like if they really want sushi or something). I figure we'll do all the rehearsal speeches, etc at the welcome cocktail party the night before (i.e. just all meet up at baracuda bar).

Reception dinner is a stress because I really want to rent out el patio but I'll have to wait until closer to know if it's available so it's hard to plan table clothes/decorations. I'm hoping to do like echo and get one of the cheaper entree options because we should have around 50 people as well. Who knows though because none of my guests are signing up yet. We sent the STD out in May and 50 people have said yes but only 9 have book the resort. grrr plus none of my wedding party have booked yet. I'm going to send out the invites in January... hopefully that reminds people.

Everyone, are you having the same problem getting a head count/guest commitment?

I just bought our plane tickets, YAY with travel insurance. We got a 6am flight out of SFO to arrive in Cancun at 3pm. We will rent a car and buy OOT bag stuff and deposible cell phones in Cancun. I want to give the MOH and BMa phone so the guests have contact people (other then me) during their stay. We depart 8 days later at 4:50pm and get home at 11:30 pm.

Sorry to hear about the storms.

Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
