I may have the same situation of getting pictures done before our ceremony but I'm curious, are you going to wear a different dress for your pictures than you will for your ceremony?? I just had some relief from finding and buying my dress, and now I'm debating getting a second dress if I can find one I really like at a cheap price. We're doing a symbolic wedding (although our guests don't know that yet!) and had originally planned to do the legal part when we got back. I just don't want to 'ruin' FI's surprise of seeing me in my wedding dress before our ceremony. Agghh! What to do!??!

I was reading on some photographers website her views on seeing each other before the wedding for pictures. She called it the "preview" shot. She loved it because it was a great opportunity to capture the bride and grooms faces when first seeing each other in a very private/intimate moment. I like the idea because it's private and you are both stilll just as excited to see each other. plus I figure my FI won't be as sweaty... poor guy is going to melt in his wedding outfit.

Omg.....I felt the same way and still kinda do!!! Wanting to Chris to see me for the 1st time as I walk towards him....but I know he will be thrilled no matter if its at 3 or 5. I am going to wear the same dress b/c I had the worst time finding one I even liked and then of course the one i kinda liked was $$$!!! So I don't really have a choice. I have always wanted a dusk/evening wedding so here's hoping it goes ok!!

Janna

Ps. We are doing the symbolic too and the legal before we go but we aren't telling....

Woohoo, booked my photographer for the day. Yay. Ordered my TTD and bridesmaids dresses today. Phoned my TA and asked her why my updated group prices were 600$more than I could get online lol. I want people to book through her not the website. Would be nice to have all together but I dont want people wasting money. Almost finished my STDs just a bit more embossing to do. Oh and ordered sample cardstock for my invites to see if I like it. I feel accomplished this week.

Damn girl you've been busy! You totally should feel accomplished!!! We had similar issues with the travel agent and I got so frustrated that we just ended up getting people to book on their own. I've found that WestJet has had the most consistently good prices so check if they have your resort as a destination if your TA can't get you better prices. $600 is a huge difference!!!
I'm in "negotiations" with FI right now over the photography. He thinks its an absolute waste and that they're all just out to gouge you on prices. This is the one specific wedding request I've had throughout all of our planning. But I can get the photographers I want on our wedding date so it might be the one big thing I put down my foot on. Kind of frustrating but I'm trying my hardest to have a lot of patience.

My DH thought the same thing when we were planning for a wedding. We were just going to go with the resort photographer. But like 3 weeks prior to my wedding I started thinking about how much photos were meant to be really special so I had a little breakdown about it. We checked our wedding expenses at that point and I convinced him to let me hire an outside photog as long as I did all the coordination and he didn't have to worry about it. It was by far one of the best decisions we made about the wedding (besides having the DW, of course!). DH was pleased with the way our pics turned out!

Ive been blessed with a FI who doesnt care as long as its not too extravegent. We are lucky that financially we can afford this. Now of course his parents keep saying what a waste of money etc but its OUR day and we are going to do what we want. I mean its not their money at all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
