Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

ok, figuring out how to post pictures. Here are a couple to view. Erika's brother, my nephew is in the National Guard and just got back from his tour in Iraq. He heads out again in July, so we were ecstatic that he was able to be there for the wedding. He had a blast! He changed into the same outfits that the groomsmen wore for the ceremony.

Hi ladies,

I have to apologize as I have been missing....busy with work and helping others plan their weddings, that I've neglected my own!!

Since I am less than 5 months out, I'm getting back in the swing of things....

so I have a few questions...

1. Has anyone had their make-up done by the spa? Results? Do they do trials? Does it cost extra? My good friend (also my stylist) will be at the wedding so is doing my hair, my mom, soon to be mother in law and girls' standing up so I think we have the hair thing covered, but we all might want to get make-up done. At least I do!! Is this part of the package? Anyone remember? I feel like hair and make-up was...I'm wondering if so, if I could swap the hair for a make-up trial. If it even is part of the package.

2. Anyone do welcome bags? Are they accomodating with keeping the bags at the front desk and giving them to guests as they arrive?

3. Any feedback on DJs? We have 54 people booked so far so we need a DJ for sure!!

TIA!!!

Sorry another question....

The chair covers for the ceremony. I read after the first 20, we are charged for them. Anyone know how much? Are the chairs bad without covers?

Same question for the reception. Or are the chairs not covered for the reception? I'm not sure what they even look like to begin with.

Thanks again!!!

My niece had her make up and hair done there. I can't remember the girl's name, but she is from Las Vegas. I'll find out from my niece. She did a fabulous job, but I understand they rotate from resort to resort. The girl who did my hair did an ok job and she did a couple of the bridesmaids and they were nice, but the girl who did was niece's was really very good. She brought all her own make up.

We did welcome bags and had them delivered to each room.

We didn't have a DJ, but just used an i-pod. There wasn't all that much difference in cost between the DJ and renting the sound system, but my niece figured since she had already downloaded all the songs she wanted anyway, there wasn't much point in getting the DJ. She said if she had known that it wasn't that much more to get a DJ; then she would have done that. I think it was $130/hr for the sound system and maybe $150/hr for the DJ.

From what I can tell from pictures, the gazebo chairs are white

I'm not sure how many of the white chairs are available though. I've only seen around 30 in pictures.
I've also seen some wicker chairs with green in the wedding brochure from Dreams.

I ask lyales if she had to pay for every chair cover but she didn't respond.

If you could ask your niece that would be great!! Do you know if she had a trial (for makeup) prior?

That's great about the welcome bags....I know some places won't be bothered with delivering them to each room. It's good to hear Dreams isn't like that!!
Thanks for your answers!!

The next time I email Jacy, I'll ask her about the chairs....I'll post on here what I find out! =)

It depends on what package you get. We got the Ultimate Package and 20 chair covers are included with that. I'm not sure if my niece paid for the add'l ones. We only had 32 people at the wedding and 8 of those were in the wedding party, so we only needed an additional 4 covers above the 20 and I don't think she got charged for those. We supplied our own chair bows as well. They carried the chairs from the gazebo over to the reception and all 32 people had a seat, so again, not sure if she got charged for those. I'll find out.

My niece did not have a make up trial, but figured if she didn't like it; she could just re-do it herself.

I think she gave a nice tip for the delivery to the rooms for the welcome bags.

When you get there, talk with the Chief Concierge, Jay. He was wonderful and very helpful. He's not real good about emails, and did say he got both my emails-just never responded. I had asked him to do something for my newphew's 21st birthday and they put balloons and a birthday cake in his room. They didn't charge me anything either, which I thought was amazing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
