Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Well I apply the same mentality to my guests... I suppose if your guests think like that reviewer... Then ya, you might have some issues. My friends and family will have a great time with me and thats all there is to it. THis is the first time they have been to an AI, so its not like they are going to compare it to some high class AI.

Possibly not. There are photos from when it was a Sunscape where there is a bride walking to the gazebo with vollyball players clapping.

It sure can't hurt to ask... maybe, a tip would help make the net disappear.smile29.gif
I got very concerned when I read that review, as well. But as Bianca said; you just have to go with the flow and people who know and love you will be happy for you and have a good time.
On another note... my niece wants to decorate the gazebo with organza fabric. Does anyone know a good place to buy it in bulk? I figure she'll need quite a bit as she wants to run it across the front and down the sides.
She also asked Jacy about getting votives on the tables and I don't think Jacy understood what votives were as she sent her pictures of hurricane lamps. Anyone know if DPA provides votives for the tables?

Blkatz--Thanks so much for the reassurance (and thank your FH as well!) Your review did make me feel better and truthfully I don't think that any of our guests are that high-maintenance to let minor details spoil the fun...Like Bianca most of my guests will be new to the AI expereience and there are enough of us that I am sure we will have a great time regardless.

I guess I just needed a little reassurance after that reading that review...It kind of had me rattled!

FABRIC:
I was also thinking of decorating the gazebo with some chiffon or organza fabric. Not sure how to go about doing it since I havent been there to see where the fabric can be attached or hang. I wanted to have very loose and flowing similar to an arch design and very simple.

There are many online resources for fabric. I have some saved at home and can send them later this evening. I went to JoAnne fabrics this weekend and they have great choices too and I thought I could just hem it with that hem tape. I am thinking about brining my own napkins, chair bows, table runners and fabric for the gazebo.
When is your nieces wedding? What are her colors?
If we are close maybe we can share and save on cost? Or share pics and advice:)

VOTIVES:
I think she probably showed you hurricanes because it is windy there and votives go out easily. Hurricanes are better to keep the candles lit. Can you send the pics of what she sent to you? I am interested in seeing them. [email protected]

My niece's wedding is June 12, 2009. Her colors are fuschia & orange. She is going to use fuschia chair bows and the draping on the gazebo will be both colors. I think she has decided to use the fuschia bows for the reception, with white tablescloths and she is bringing orange overlays, and using white napkins. She thought about alternating the colors, but thought it might look too casual. The centerpieces will be mixed orange and fuschia and she wanted to put the votives around the centerpieces. I didn't even consider that the votives would go out; but it makes sense. Her reception is going to be by the adult pool. She is going to get luminaries to put around the pool. She asked Jacy about stringing small white lights, but there is an additional charge to set that up and after looking at the pictures; I'm not sure where you would hang or use the lights.

We were talking last night about using rose petals (freeze-dried). Is anyone going to decorate the walkway across to the gazebo? She thought maybe some palm leaves or something. Does DPA have a runner they use?

Darn, my colors are blues and an accent of lime green.

I love her colors, but my sister had those at her wedding so I wanted to try something different:)

Her decor sounds a lot like what I want. I was thinking about petals also on the walkway to the gazebo. I have not heard anythign about a runner, but would like to know that as well.

Do you have pics of the adult area by the pool? I have seen pictures of the resort but am not sure which area that is. I was going to do everything in the gazebo because we are only having about 20 people and Jacy said we can set up tables in the gazebo for dinner. Anyone else thinking of that?

My wedding is July 2nd so maybe I will get to see some pics of weddings before it: :0!

Thanks everyone for your advice and tips!

I am not doing many flowers, just my boquet I think. Maybe white calilillies. All white with a blue ribbon around the stems. Simple.

I am having my bridesmaid carry a parasel in white instead of flowers.

We got the ultimate package, but really only because we wanted the dinner, cocktail hour and music. I can do without the hair, makeup and extra flower stuff.

We will see if they allow us to substitue for other things( longer music set ex.)??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
