I read through all the posts since this thread has started....what was the final verdict in terms of outside photographers? Had to be a non-Mexican? Is yours someone you know? How much did you pay if you do not mind me asking (if it is not someone you know!)? And how did you find them? Photos are really important to me to and Jacyhas not been able to answer my questions re: photographer. Thanks for your help!
The final verdict I was given was that they had to be non-mexican. I fought it, my travel agent fought it and we just kept getting a no. I started searching for U.S. Photographers and getting quotes that were way beyond my budget (my budget was $2000-$2200 for wedding day and TTD). I had heard of photographers that would do a DW to add to their portfolio for just to cost of the trip, which would fit my budget so I geared my search in that direction. I found a photographer in Texas that would go for just expenses and I would get all my photos on disc with rights to print. Unfortunately he was booked on my date. I had all but given up but figured it couldn't hurt to write back to him and ask if he could recommend anyone else who would offer the same deal and as it turned out he could, his former apprentice was now out on her own, he copied her on our email and she wrote back to me that she would honor the costs deal and that she was available on my date. So I kinda lucked out.

I am using a local photographer BUT they will be staying the night at the resort, so they are also a "guest." Jacy made it sound like she was making an exception for me, but I'm not sure. You could try it that way. We are doing a TTD session the next day and the drive is a bit much back and forth to DPA from where the photog lives, so the photog and her asst staying at the resort worked out better for us.

Yes-the city of Puerto Aventuras is a 2 minute walk from the resort. They have cute restaurants, shops and bars. Most of the shops are very touristy but the bars and restaurants are very cute.

Here's a link to some of the restaurants and bars

Puerto Aventuras :: Restaurants :: Riviera Maya

We were trying to find a place for the rehearsal dinner, outside of the resort, but it seems most places are fairly small. We're still looking into but it seems like the dinner will most likely be held at the resort.

Hi ladies! Just wanted to let you know I did a site visit of Dreams PA last week and loved it! It is a smaller resort and doesn't have that cookie cutter feel of the larger resorts, the staff seemed amazing and the resort was beautiful, I'm just trying to decide between Dreams PA or Riu Palace Mexico now. I have some pics but I need to figure out how to post them on this site. Also I think Jacey told me just to have tables reserved in the buffet resteraunt for a rehersal dinner was $18/person, this seems pretty unreasonable just for reserved tables, has anyone heard any different?

Wow, that doesn't seem right! We have 40+ people, so that's almost an extra $800 that wasn't figured in to the budget.

hurry and post pics! we'd love to see them, as a matter of fact feel free to write up a site review and post pics with it, that would be really helpful to the forum! just be sure to post it in the cancun/RM forum.

Hi there!

We are having our cocktail hour outside in the sand followed by dinner and then having our reception near the adult pool. They will provide a dance floor free of charge and then we are renting a dj. We were told we couldn't rent out Desire (which is the closest thing to a disco at Dreams) so this was our next best option.QUOTE]

I was under the impression that there was a charge to rent a dance floor. It is free because you are getting the DJ?

Thanks Bianca and Reluctant for your help. My mother called and spoke with Jacy yesterday...it makes it a bit easier as my Mom is mexican. She told me the same Bianca...they could be Mexican, must stay one night. Basically she said the photographer will get there about 20 mins before the ceremony starts, and you will go through the photos the next day with them and pick the ones you want. We still did not get a definite answer how long they would stay for, or how much more to get them there any longer. I think I may bring one from home, it was not as much as I thought it would be.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
