Thanks for the offer to get info! Can you possibly find out if a reception can be held at the area next to the lagoon? My niece heard back from Jacy and asked about that, but all Jacy told her is that the reception can be held outdoors.

Has anyone paid their deposit for their wedding yethuh.gif??...i haven't been in contact with Jacy since October and she hasn't emailed me any updates or request for deposit.

Just back tracking on all the posts, just so I don't overlook anything...

Here is a list of things that I think needs to be done or decided upon

Dress (done)

My invitations (done & delivered, most ppl have booked)

Party Favors (still looking)

Photographer (just using the one included in the package along with our own cameras)

Wedding Package (Ultimate Gold package, that way it takes cares of most things)

Is there anything that I am missinghuh.gif Besides working out the location and layout of the ceremony (symbolic) and the dinner which we will likely do in the ballroom.

Thanks Future Brides!!!

Yup. It's on page 21 of the wedding guide. They have it posted everywhere that deposits are required. It was something that Dreams changed a couple months ago. Obviously many (or all) of us were told that it was not, so we just have to wait and see what they say about that when the time comes. I was personally told that I would only have to book our room to confirm our date.

"HI Everyone- I am HERE!!!

To anyone who is reserved to come to Dreams PUERTO AVENTURES- You will be very happy the resort is Beautiful and the staff is outstanding! They really gutted the place and everything looks brand new. The restaurants are all very different and each has their own theme and very cool decor. The hotel itself has be completely redone- I can't imagine that any one who saw this when it was a Sunscape would recognize the inside of the buildings. They have new EVERYTHING. Even the bathrooms by the beach are gorgeous. The beach area is very protected and we had a great time on the water trampoline with the kids today. You can easily walk right out to get on it. There are some rocky areas and some rocks on the beach so sand shoes are handy if you have sensitive feet. Further down the beach there is an area we didnt even know was part of the resort. It is not on any of the maps. There is a salt water lagoon that is great for snorkeling. The watersports area has snorkel gear that you can check out for free for one hour a day. You really need water shoes there as it is very slippery and you will tear up your feet on the rocks. They are putting sand beds in this area- tres chic. The Explorers Club is fun for the kids and the staff is great. The pools are beautiful and the adults-only area is calm and sophisticated. All of the staff has been exceptional. We are welcomed and greeted everywhere we go. Most of the key employees are either transferred from another Dreams or Secrets property or were employees at Sunscapes Puerto Aventures. They are all professional and excited to make this a great resort. The hotel manager is open to any suggestions and is meeting as many guests as possible. They all seem devoted to making their guests happy.

As for opening issues- the hotel just started taking guests as the opening was delayed from November 1st to December 1st. When we arrived on December 3rd- I was amazed that the employees all greeted us by name and had been expecting us. Then I found out there were only about 45 guests in the entire hotel. There are about 300 employees so the ratio is of staff to guest is about as high as you would ever find. Today we are up to about 61 guests and the count will increase daily. They expect to be up to about 70pct occupancy by December 17th. Only the top floors of the hotel are open now so everyone is being upgraded to those floors. The 7th floor is the Preferred Club with lots of concierge type benefits. It is great and anyone booked in those categories is going to love the special services. As of right now, they are still completing many areas of the facilities. Workers are evident as they try and get all the restaurants finished and work on the public areas. The pools are all done and they expect the pool floaties any day. The bungee trampoline is supposed to be ready for us now and I was told the adults as well as the kids can use it -up to a certain weight limit. There are only two restaurants to choose from every night and they rotate it until more people arrive. It would be silly to open 5 restaurants with only 45 guests. The World Cafe buffet is very fancy. The nicest buffet restaurant I have seen. We spoke to the food and beverage manager and told him which ones we want open each night. It is kind of surreal to be in this resort with so few other people. We were joking that we had our very own pool today. There was a managers cocktail party tonight and they introduced the management staff and there were 6 guests and about 20 staff. Some people might be disappointed that certain facilties are not at 100pct yet but having the entire place to ourselves and the exceptional service easily makes up for any inconvenience. The staff is remarkable. Overall, we LOVE it. It is a very managable resort so you don't lose your family or friends and it is easy to get anywhere. There are other hotels and condos on all sides of us. You can walk to the marina and see the dolphins, manatees and other sea animals for free as you walk around the shops and restaurants. I had called the Dreams 800 number from home and asked about tennis courts and they told me there were tennis courts here even though they are not listed on the website. This was not true, there are no tennis courts. This resort is not huge and there is no place to put a tennis court. The fitness center is compact and has all brand new equipment. Throughout the resort, I have not seen anything that looks like it is left over from the old hotel- everything is brand new and more is arriving every day.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, just post them here and I will try and drag myself away from the pool or beach to check the computer. FYI so you don't think I am biased, I am here as a full-paying guest not on any type of travel agent promotion so I am free to give you my honest opinion."

Hope this is helpful for those of you going to Dreams Puerto Aventuras!

Happy Travels!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
