Hey LC13,

I tried contracting the hotel over a month ago now for pricing on their hair and makeup. I still haven't received a response. So I decided to go with MVP hair and makeup. Look at the reviews on this site. Edgar is the one who set up the appointments for Melissa. They have been amazing to deal with. I find the prices are reasonable to what we would pay back home.

Ladies:

I need your help!!

What's the capacity of the El Patio restaurant?

I heard you cannot secure it until the week you get there - in case they absolutely need the space for the guests (that it might be sold out etc.).

Is there a max number of guests you can have booked with your wedding in order to secure it before you get down there?

We have 60 people booked.

OR is this only to make the restaurant private -- that you have to wait until you're down there. What if you only want semi-private?

PAST BRIDES: did you make it private or semi-private and what would be your suggestion for future brides?

Hello,

I'm not sure on the capacity but it cost $900 USD to book out the El Patio. This includes 3 hours of reception time. If you want your reception to go longer you have to pay a per person rate for this. If you book this it is completely private.

Hope that helps.

I just got back from DPA and my wedding was amazing! I know it's super frustrating about them not getting back, I know I was there too a couple months ago. But they really do know what they are doing and they go over everything once you're there.

I heard the same thing about el patio but Areli confirmed el patio about 2 months in advance. She made me fill out a request form and sent it back confirming the restaurant. It is one decision I will never regret! It's a bit pricey but well worth it! I also think depending on the time of year the may be more reluctant to confirm since it may be high season. We went at the start of their slow season.

Hair and makeup was amazing at the resort. They did an amazing job. It cost me $265 (incl tax) US for updos for 4 bridesmaids. And I think makeup is $49 or $59 pp

Hope that helps!

Hey Karen84,

Awesome to hear that you had an amazing wedding. It's giving the rest of us some hope. haha I have a couple of questions for ya. Did you find the El Patio hot? I heard it doesn't have any AC. Also did you do anything for a rehearsal dinner the night before? Did you go with a lot of their decorations or did you bring your own?

Thanks a bunch

hi ladies - i got married last june at El Patio - it is extremely hot. But, you basically just know this coming into it and accept it. I wouldn't have it at any other location, it's perfect! guests ended up changing into swim shorts and putting their hair up. i cant say its the most comfortable for a bride either - but you just go with it! it makes a destination wedding a destination wedding! :)

and just a side note to remember to write down all of your decorations that you are bringing and be sure to collect them the next day -- i just received reimbursement this month for decorations of mine that have been circulating at other weddings on location, despite asking for them to just send it back to me several times. i was told they couldnt find them anymore, but i saw them on facebook after the fact...

in terms of hair/makeup - their on site team is supposed to be great! i never used them, but would encourage it if you wanted! i recommend too if you are curling your hair to use "living proof curl defining style cream": http://www.sephora.com/curl-defining-styling-cream-P392503?skuId=1676030&icid2=_P392503_imagewhich will help with the humidity!!

I just had my wedding at dreams Puerto aventuras and I am extremely happy. Everything went well. We basically planned the whole wedding the day before and everything went perfect.

I used their makeup/hair stylist and they did and amazing job. My makeup looked perfect considering the humidity.

The reception was at El Patio. Its a bit warm especially with all the dancing, so keep that in mind. They do however open up the huge windows so you'll feel some breeze. The food was great, the DJ did great.. Everything was great

I didn't use any decorations, it was all white and I think it looked elegant. My wedding bouquet was gorgeous.

I had a reception for 85 people and everyone had an amazing time.

Considering I didn't really communicate with the planner, the.wedding was amazing. Don't worry if you don't hear back from the planner soon, Areli and her team work great. They do this everyday so don't worry about anything.

Hi ladies! I am thinking of having my wedding this summer at dreams puerto adventuras. My question is have any of you seen or had your reception in the banquet room/ hall? It seems like it would be nice and private and I read somewhere it has ac. However, I don't see and brides on the forum who have used it and am wondering why. Thanks!

@LindseyRose  I think generally it's because most of the ladies here that make the decision to have a dw don't want to go inside for any of it. It's likely used as a back up plan for rain, but generally an outdoor reception goes hand in hand with a dw. As well, by the time you sit down in the evening for dinner and do your dancing, the temps have dropped a bit and it's not as bad as during the day, especially if you happen to be on the beach for your reception.

El Patio is a gorgeous room however the whole appeal of a beach wedding to me is being on the beach and on the sand. We will be having our reception on the beach. The extra money I have paid so far is for centerpieces and chair sashes. The one thing that I am so close to doing is extending the time dancing at the reception on the beach. Did anyone else pay for an extra couple hours? Is it worth it? I believe it would work out to about $1000 an hour or so...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
