Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

We are putting together our webinar schedule for BDW.  These webinars are great because not only can you get YOUR questions answered but also hear answers to questions from other brides that you may not have even though of :)

Webinars are a great way to not only hear directly from the wedding department but see the wedding packages that they offer, ceremony/reception pics, etc.

I try to only limit the webinars to once every 2 weeks so we of course can not do all resorts.

Please vote on which resorts you would like to have webinars on...you can choose more than 1.

Hey!

Hey Allie. I am bringing silk flowers for bouquet's and I am thinking of just using a tall circular glass vase (I am hoping they have some there) and putting the flowers in that. Also, I am not going to be using the flowers they provide in the ultimate wedding package or the photography in the ultimatge wedding package, so I am hoping that maybe they will let me use some decorations free of charge, considering the flowers and photography are probably pretty costly. I am sure they do some sort of set up on the tables, I doubt they would just leave them empty, you know? Which package are you getting?
I am doing the same centerpiece at our wedding. Ipurchased fake flowers from Michaels, and am going toput them in cylinder vases , water filled and floating candle. I tested the flower at home to see if my vision would work ..the fake flower held up for 24 hours. The stem started to peel after like 12 hours, but the flower itself never disintegrated or bleed in the water.it was perfect. Its also saving me about $500!! I am renting the vases from dpa at $5 a vase. The flower, once in water, looks real..no one will ever know our notice. I'm doing 3 on each table with tea lights in holders surrounding them. For 16 centerpieces, the flowers, floating candles, tea lights and holders its going to cost total of $160.( with vase rental) Their pricing is ridiculous, so save any way you can! It all fits in a carry on suit case too-nothing crazy. :)

Hey,

I also thought about doing that with the fake flowers submerged in vases with floating candles, but my only concern is that real candles won't work due to the wind! Are you having your reception outside? We definitely are, and I have heard that it can be very windy there so there is no point in having candles/tea lights. I am likely going to bring down LED candles.

But your idea sounds great, and what an amazing price!

Yes were doing it outside as well... What I am doing is leaving about an inch and a half,at the top the vase (don't fill water to absolute top) which protects the candle from wind and my tea lights are in holders that are deep so they won't getblown out... But I've seen the centerpieces done with led water candles at the bottom, and it lights up the flower inside.also gorgeous :) But if your putting the flowers inside a vase, they don't have to be real, lol. Since its not a bouquet on display, people can't touch it or smell it...saves so much money!!!

Hey ladies!

Looks like we all have similar tastes in centerpieces!! I'm also planning on putting fake flowers in vases with a candle on top.  I'm going to Michael's next weekend to see what I can find!

But I don't think I'll have enough room to bring any vases so I think I will just rent them from the resort.  Does anyone happen to have any photos of the vases they have available?

We leave to Mexico in about 6 weeks so I'm starting to really freak out about all the small details that I haven't sorted out yet! AAhhhh!!

Second dress fitting on Tuesday though! :)

Dreams Brides,

What is everyone doing for booking travel and get best air/resort deals for themselves and guests? Trying to see who has done what and what deals you've seen thru travel agents and/or resort.

I'm torn bc Expedia has great deals out there right now. And not sure unless you go thru dreams if you can get their deals and pepromotions on their website.

Thanks for the tips and sharing ideas!

Hi! Welcome and congrats on booking your wedding at DPA! We went through a local travel agent who offered us a group deal which was about $200 less than any other price I've seen online. We also got our complete trip (for both of us) for free for booking more than 10 people. However, it seems like Americans get much better travel deals than Canadians flying to Mexico. My sister lives in Colorado, and it is was way cheaper for her to book her hotel room through the DPA website and her flight separately.

Maybe contact a local travel agent and see what they can do for you, and compare it to the prices you are finding on DPA website.

Goodluck!

Hi Katie!

We also went through a travel agent and we managed to get a pretty decent rebate for every 6 rooms booked. In the end it was about $1500 per person including airfare and we got a rebate of about $2200, which we ended up using to help some friends get there.

Expedia might have some good deals, but it does leave everyone to sort of fend for themselves. However this also would take out the stress of the friends/family that DONT like the deal you chose for them! But maybe you will have better luck than me! lol

Good luck!

Oh! I should mention the agent I used was from destinationweddings.com, and their service is free! There is a charge when you sign up, but they put it toward your travel expenses so you do get it back

We just got back from our wedding at DPA this past Saturday. First off, Jacki is awesome! I think she is overwhelmed at the moment as she is soon going to be the only WC at the resort as the other one is leaving. They already have 125 weddings booked for this year already. She was helpful and made things happen for us, even at the last moment. We did the Dreams of Love package(which was more than enough for our group of 32), Everything from the appetizers(beef kabobs are awesome) to our main course(pork tenderloin) were amazing. Our chicken wings came out cold and they brought them back heated. We had our reception on the beach and it was COLD(felt like a breezy fall Canadian night), but we had fun nonetheless.  If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to email me, rebeccamuir@gmail.com

Cheers and happy New Year!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
