Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Alie! Can you pass along the email you were talking with Alison about too? I have a picture that shows the room about the resturant and a beach set up too that she sent me I can send. email carsonjulie@live.com

I have no idea what I'm going to bring for table decorations either. Let me know if you find anything good!

I keep reading reviews on trip advisor which I should stop so I dont get nervous... we have a mostly adult group going and I keep reading reviews that the place is a zoo of kids and the beach is so small. I picked this resort because its so small so we could run into people often and because of the adults pool thinking we'd get away from kids. But trip advisor reviews make me worried... anyone else worried?

No problem Allie! And I agree... some of them don't even look like they were taken at the DPA!

Julie - I can send you the email if you like! When is your wedding??

I used to read tripadvisor but I've stopped because all it did was freak me out. Though, like you, I am a little worried about all the kids, but I figure we can always just escape to the adult pool!

Hey Ladies, I have read the reviews on TA too and was a little worried, but for every bad review there are 10 good ones! And I figure that it will be an amazing trip because of the company, and not because of the setting. Also, just think of the reasons you chose to get married at DPA. It has one of the most beautiful wedding gazebos in my opinion, and there are many other great features! Anyways, I'm sure we will all have amazing trips and weddings :)

Oh quick question - is anyone getting legally married at DPA? We are planning on it as my FI is against getting legally married before we head down. I'm just a little worried about getting the marriage certificate, as I have heard some brides say that it can take months to receive it in the mail :(

We are also planning on getting legally married there as well.  I've heard the same thing about the marriage certificate taking a long time but I suppose there is not much we can do about that.    I'm also not a fan of having to pay for blood tests while we are there either... but my FI is also against getting legally married before we head down as well.

I'm sure all will go smoothly though!

DPA Brides,

My name is Katie and my fiancé, James, and I just booked Dreams Puerto Aventuras for our Nov 10th, 2012 wedding. I'm so excited and getting even more excited after reading all the posts in this forum.

Thanks to everyone for the posts so far and I look forward to learning and sharing with you all next year thr my planning!

Im debating right now about using the photographers with the resort pkg or 3rd party ones... Any advice, what are others doing?

Anyone done any research on the golf or scuba diving near the resort? Also thinking of renting a boat/catamaran for a private excursion with guests so if you have any leads on marina rentals let me know.

Im just now booing with a travel agent and working on save the dates. Any unique save the date ideas for destinations?

Excited DPA bride from Michigan,

Katie

Hi Katie, welcome and congrats on securing your date at Dreams!!! This forum is a great resource. When I first joined I read through this entire forum, it took some time but honestly I found the answer to so many questions I had without having to by my WC.

We booked an external photographer. We are using Lincoln Lehmann from Moments that Matter Photography. I was originally just going to go with the resort photographer but after seeing some of the pictures from other brides weddings, I was not very impressed. It definitely an added expense that we originally didn't budget for, but pictures last a lifetime so out of anything I decided it was worth it to splurge!

Ourselves and a bunch of our guests are avid divers so we are definitely planning at least 2-3 dives! There is amazing diving in the Mayan Riviera. From what I've read on Trip Advisor it bests to go to one of the local dive shops in Puerto Aventuras (about 5 min walk from DPA), as opposed to the ProDive on site at DPA. Prices are supposed to be much more reasonable. The are is known for cenote dives, which are huge underground caverns, and you don't need to have your advanced certification as they are not considered caves. Also, some of the best reef diving in Mexico is off the coast of Cozumel. Cozumel is about a 20 min ferry ride from Playa del Carmen (which is a 20 min drive from DPA). Most dives shops in the area will either take care of all the transportation, or even bring you out there themselves. But I have heard that it is totally worth it to dive there, so we are planning on it.

Feel free to ask away, I definitely did when I first made an appearance on here!

Hi everyone, my fiance and I are getting legally married on February 10, 2012.  the time has flown by and i am getting really excited.  i was wondering if it necessary to bring decorartions?  we have paid for the Dreams Ultimate Wedding package and i was wondering if other brides have had this package and were they happy with the resorts decorations.

Hi Everyone! I'm not much help on the legal part we are going to skip that do the legal part back at home afterwards. I'm also going to use the resort photographer with the pictures included in the dreams of love package. I hope it goes well! I'm not sure about decorations.....kpelecha the ultimate includes quite a bit doesn't it? Are you doing any kind of gifts for your guests? Another great source I have found is the facebook page for dreams puerto aventuras. Its updated daily and I was able to get the tour desk for the resort off there too. I've been email with them with activity suggestions. I'd like to make a suggested schedule for my guests of different tours and things to do and people can join in on the ones together they like. I want to keep organizing and coordinating once we get there to a minimum.

Hi kpelecha, wow you must be getting so excited as your date is coming up so soon! We are also doing the ultimate wedding package which provides nice decorations for the wedding gazebo. Have you seen any pics of it with the decorations? As Julie Carson said the FB page for DPA has some great pics of recent weddings at Dreams. We have decided to bring down our own chair sashes, table runners and lanterns as additional decorations. Dreams charges $6 per chair sash, and I have found them online for $1.19 per sash! So even though we may have to pay a bit more to bring down an extra suitcase for the decorations, we will save more in the long run.

Good luck with your planning :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
