Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

We did the Gold Menu with the Surf & turf, Mango shrimp salad, I don't remember what we did for a soup but DON'T do the tortilla soup it's disappointing, and the bruschetta as an App. Overall the food at the resort was good(Italian place my personal fav), the only place we didn't try was the sushi place and I personally wasn't impressed with the Mexican restaurant, their salsa or hot sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce lol.I'm from Texas and am really picky about my Mexican food. The buffet was good too, you can get breakfast in the morning, they make omlettes for you and towards dinner they open up again.   For the reception we did the round tables on the beach, we brought some of our own decorations, like table runners in my wedding color, and just a bunch of extra stuff to place on there. Also,(if you are getting some) we requested that the mariachis play during our dinner, which was fun, made it more lively, and they took pics with us before. We didn't have a DJ or dance floor, just put a bunch of good songs on our Ipod, hooked it up to the speaker, danced on the sand and we were set(my brother managed the music if it needed to be paused or changed)!  Afterward we all headed to the night club, danced and drank some more! I know my cake wasn't the correct flavor that I had picked out, which I really wasn't too upset over, I never had a personal dressing assitant like it said I would in my package, my cake was supposed to have flowers on it and didn't(which was immediately corrected) My husband and I said we would both go back to the resort, my family and friends also enjoyed it. With our experience we found that the service was good and everyone was attentitive. Our room was ocean view so that was nice, very safe area, you can walk to town for shopping and go swim with the dolphins in the marina.

Alison- It was a little windy during that time also.

Thanks for all the info Bianca!!

I feel SO much better now!! It seems like the food isn't too bad so if someone doesn't like one restaurant, they still have other good options to go with.   I'm glad the ipod thing worked out for you! That is my plan also, so it's nice to hear it went well. I was thinking of moving the party to the night club afterward as well.. even if it's dead. We'll still have a good time!!

I wasn't sure if I wanted the reception on the beach, but it sounds to me like it was really nice, and I am kind of leaning toward doing it that way now! After all, it IS a destination wedding!   And I can deal with a little bit of wind! cheesy.gif

Thanks for all the info Bianca! Your menu sounds exactly like the one we want - I believe we are going to go with the onion soup. How was the surf and turf? I was a bit worried the steak wouldn't be great.

Good call on the Ipod. Will save money for sure! I will do the same thing.

So they set up round tables for you? How many people to a table? Did you and your husband have your own head table? Did you have a lot of people? Alison - How many people are coming to yours? We have about 20 - 25 coming.

Sorry for so many questions! We really appreciate you answering them for us.

Yeah there is so many options for dinner but keep in mind that some of the restaurants are closed on a certain day, so just know which ones are if you plan on all going to dinner one night. I forgot about the Seafood place by the adult pool and also the restaurant by the other pool is good I think it was called Seaside Grill?? I do remember that our food took forrreeeverrr to get to us though haha so be patient...all this stuff is just coming back to me! Yes the iPod thing was perfect! Especially cause we played whatever we wanted to listen to. During our stay, there was always some kind of party going on at the club so definitely have the "after-party" there. The night before our wedding we were all in there as well and everyone in the club did a toast for us and they made us taking tequila shots lol. Even before I found out about all the places to have the reception at, I knew I wanted it to be out on the beach, just because it is a destination wedding. So don't worry too much about the wind, my hair was still in place the entire time lol.

The surf and turf was good!! Everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well. If you want your steak cooked a different way than how they serve it just request it and they will prepare it the way you want. Yes, we did the round tables and I believe it was 3 round tables, 6 or 7 people to a table, and then our head table which was rectangular was us two. I believe there was 20 or 22 of us.

Don't worry about asking me too many questions!! I had sooo many before our wedding and was like Facebooking everyone who had their wedding there and asking so many haha. :)

Where did you get your flowers from??  I still don't know what my choices are for flowers if I choose them from the resort, I should probably email my WC!

I look forward to seeing all your pics!  :)

OMG Bianca I loved your video, and you looked sooooooo gorgeous on your wedding day :)

And thanks for answering all of our questions, it's so helpful to hear from someone who was married recently at DPA. I'm a little frustrated right now because my wedding planner (Sandra Sanchez) has not been answering my emails! Did you have Sandra by chance?

Your reception set-up on the beach looked great, it's kind of making me re-consider having mine on the beach. My only reason for not wanting it there is that I want to wear heels and I thought it wouldn't be great for dancing.

Question about your flowers...........did you send them inspiration pictures ahead of time? Or did you just pick from pictures the wedding coordinator sent you? Did you get your hair down at the salon?

Thanks again for all your help!

Hey, we are having a big wedding, probably 75-100 people in June.  Has anyone negotiated any deals for bringing in a lot of people?  The packages only cover 20 people, but the revenue we are bringing in is a ton.  Just wondering someone was able to increase the number of people covered, get a free room, or get an other wedding cost discounts.  Let me know.  Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
