Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I got married at DPA May 23, 2009 during the whole Swine Flu epidemic.  We went back to celebrate our 1 year anniversary last year and wanted to go back this year but were not able to. DPA is like a home away from home to us.  The staff is incredible and they truly take care of you.  Best wishes to any brides with their special day coming up!

(I was looking for a copy of the boarding pass I made back then for a cousin and found it at BDW :))

I'm getting excited too! It feels like everything is finally coming together. Like everyone else has said, the hotel gets much more responsive the closer you get to your wedding! I've managed to receive multiple emails in one day from Sandra. Now we know we're getting close! :-)

Good luck transporting your dress. You're carrying it on the plane with you, right? I'm sure it will work out just fine.

I can't wait to meet you!

Jessicap - I can't wait to meet you. I am getting so excited. We are in the process of finalizing our plans with Sandra. We went with one of the packages and we are a little torn on what we should do about centerpieces. Other than that everything else seems to be falling into place. I'm still a little nervous about transporting my wedding dress.... Well good luck with the last minute to do list and I will see you in Mexico very very soon!!!!

Congrats!! Your pictures were gorgeous, and it looks like you guys had a great time.

Thanks for the restaurant information. Sandra said we should go through her too. I just wish we could plan a little more than a week in advance. Oh well, at this point we are just trying to let go, and realize that it's all going to work out one way or another. It's also good to know about the 8 being the max for a group. I'm not sure if we'll try to get everyone together any other times, but at least we'll know what to expect.

I was anxious and waited in the lobby. Sandra came and got us (wedding party, dad, me, and all our crazy family that wanted to be a parade with us) in time to walk through the whole resort to our ceremony area. She stopped us and told us when to go, etc. Don't worry about any of that, she even takes care of all the music.

The restaurants all opened for dinner at 6 pm. I would definitely have HER do your reservations, otherwise they will not sit more than bout 8 people together at a table. She could probably pull some strings to make that happen. When we tried on our own they didn't really care to help us with a group of even just 10. Always split us up.

If it doesn't work, find me and we can be friends lol.

We went with the ultimate package. I  had the ceremony in gazebo and the reception on the beach. They were able to use the flowers from tthe gazebo as centerpieces. They were beautiful. They also provided us with candles but I dont think those stay lit.  There is too much breeze for candles but it also makes it very pleasant and I never felt hot.

Tracy15 - Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope other than the few minor mishaps, you had a great time?!  Thank you for the advice on the centerpieces.  I will have to check out your photos. Congrats!!!

Dinner started around 7, but with getting people inside, then the toasts, we finally got to cake cutting around 9:15-9:30, then first dance/father-daughter dance, so there was only about an hour or less left for dancing and having people sign the guestbook (we had an instant photo camera and guestbook, and the people at the restaurant were nice to bring out the sombreros they have when they make the fancy Mexican/Mayan coffee show - made things more festive).  We had about 27 people, they set up 4 tables of 8 (2 on each side) around the tree and left the middle open for dancing.

The Mariachi band was fun, I think they added a nice touch to the cocktail hour and people seemed to enjoy it. We were taking pictures the entire time, so we could hear them but not fully enjoy them.  Read around on the thread, there were some people who did not like the Trio as much.

I really enjoyed the Sunset Catamaran Cruise, it was a nice touch to end the weekend.  I went with Paradise Catamarans and got the drinks and food.  The sea was a little rough and a couple people got nauseous, but then they went into a quiet cove area in Puerto Aventuras and served the food at that time.

amazing pictures!  I forgot to ask--how was the Sunset Catamaran Cruise? We are looking to do something fun with our bridal party instead of giving them gifts.

how long did your dinner last? And how many people did you have?  We are expecting about 40, so I'm trying to gauge the length.  Also, how was the Mariachi band?  We are thinking of hiring the Mexican Trio for dinner.

There is a gym, it's right by the salon/spa, kinda small but it'll get the job done.  Puerto is also safe that you can run around town if it's not too hot.  They also have zumba classes, yoga, water aerobics, volleyball and other workout activities by the pool.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
