Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

The wedding coordinator was running around for us all day. She delivered our clothes, flowers, etc. I was told she would get me from my room OR meet me in the lobby. I was anxious and waited in the lobby. Sandra came and got us (wedding party, dad, me, and all our crazy family that wanted to be a parade with us) in time to walk through the whole resort to our ceremony area. She stopped us and told us when to go, etc. Don't worry about any of that, she even takes care of all the music.

The restaurants all opened for dinner at 6 pm. I would definitely have HER do your reservations, otherwise they will not sit more than bout 8 people together at a table. She could probably pull some strings to make that happen. When we tried on our own they didn't really care to help us with a group of even just 10. Always split us up.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10100350162523323.2753373.3218738&l=206aecb75e   I'm still waiting for more photos from my outside photographer, she sent a sample to show at my AHR.   My FI managed to get a room the night before our ceremony, he sleeps in late and just hung out with the guys prior the ceremony.  I spent the morning in my room, ordered room service, watched a highlights special of the Royal Wedding, and got hair/makeup done with my bridesmaids, mom, and MIL.   I had brought decorations (chair sashes and table runners, candles, shells, glass marbles/beads) for centerpieces and Lindsay/her staff arranged them all, it was great. I was not anticipating tablecloths on the tables at El Patio, but it still looked fine.  She also arranged the table numbers, my guestbook, and escort cards.  I did not have a set idea on how they should look, and she made everything look great.   It was warm during the ceremony (5PM), but there was a nice breeze in the gazebo that my guests didn't really need the fans I provided. The sun was setting during our cocktail hour/photos between 6 and 7.  It was a little warm inside El Patio (I saw people using the fans there), but if all the windows were opened, it got cooler (but it made some of my candle centerpieces go out at some of the tables.)   We used the mariachi band for the cocktail hour.  I brought iPod speakers for dinner and the reception, having made a Dinner Playlist and Reception Playlist, and Special Songs (cake cutting, first dance, etc). Dinner ran much longer than anticipated so it ended up looping (we allotted 1.5hrs of music for dinner and 2hrs for dancing).    The volume was a little low for some songs inside El Patio, plus maybe the breeze drowned some of it out, but for the most part it could be heard. Maybe bring stronger speakers just in case.

Tifuhhknee - I'm so happy for you! And I'm happy it all went as planned.  I will def have to check out your photos.

Jessicap - I can't wait to meet you. I am getting so excited. We are in the process of finalizing our plans with Sandra. We went with one of the packages and we are a little torn on what we should do about centerpieces. Other than that everything else seems to be falling into place. I'm still a little nervous about transporting my wedding dress.... Well good luck with the last minute to do list and I will see you in Mexico very very soon!!!!

To fellow DPA brides,

We are back and married and I definitely will be writing a full review in the next couple days.

I just want to say that you can't beat having a wedding in Mexico.

The sunshine and the beach alone makes it surreal..... they definitely do an great job with many aspects of it that I will go into detail in my review.

But there are many details that I felt like the whole time I was on vacation I was having to deal with which makes for a stressful vacation. Who wants to spend there wedding/honeymoon dealing with the front desk, concierge, etc. when on vacation.

Now that I am home and I checked our bank account they did not charge us for the amount they told us they were going to at check out by the  front desk. We spent what I would consider a lot of time our last two days trying to rectify it and then wehen we get home it was not done at all so now I am spending my first day back home having to work on that...Not fun.

I am not saying you won't have an amazing. beautiful and fun wedding.

Just don't expect the same level of service as you would in the states when they make a mistake.

Here are a couple of pics a friend took. Our pro pics by the resort are beautiful although I think way overpriced!

I will post some when I do our full review of the resort.

Asia Jane,

We went with the ultimate package. I  had the ceremony in gazebo and the reception on the beach. They were able to use the flowers from tthe gazebo as centerpieces. They were beautiful. They also provided us with candles but I dont think those stay lit.  There is too much breeze for candles but it also makes it very pleasant and I never felt hot.

Nairay-

how long did your dinner last? And how many people did you have?  We are expecting about 40, so I'm trying to gauge the length.  Also, how was the Mariachi band?  We are thinking of hiring the Mexican Trio for dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
