We aren't having a reception in Mexico, just going to party in the pool or all go to a restaurant or something, not a big group traveling with us.  We are having our ceremony on the beach (not the gazebo) and I'm pretty much thinking the ipod dock route also... if any music at all. I'm stumped.

Hi Crystal,

We get there on the 13th and staying until the 23rd.

We will have 11 adults and 4 kids with us so far. It is mostly family. The kids ages are my sisters  3 girls ages 6,4, and 2 and our son Elliot who will have just turned 4.

How old are your kids?

Sine we are having a simi-out door reception our side dishes will be summery Potato salad, broccoli and cheese, fruit salad, baked beans, and a few other things. When are ur AHR? Jessica, yay for the dress. Mine hasn't come in yet and Im pretty anxious. I've lost 15 lbs so I hope it still fits :) what does your dress look like? And your invitations? I need to get on the ball with invitations.

Hi Asia Jane!

For our pig roast we are doing about a 60 to 70 lb. pig. My brother is a chef and he had one at his wedding and everyone loved it!

We are thinking of having mini tortillas, a black bean and roasted corn salad, a cole slaw that can go on the tacos or as a side, and pico de gallo.

For an appetizer we are thinking spicy prawns and something else that we havent decided on yet!:-) and of course chips and salsa.

We will have beer and lots of red wine and a little bit of white. My FH thinks we need to have about a bottle of wine a person so we dont run out!! The Invitation is from 5-8 but will probably go later than that for some...

We sent out informal evites and we have 50 confirmed so far. With the possibilty of 80ppl! We are praying for nice weather because it will  be in my Mothers back yard and house but hopefully it can mainly be in the backyard! which is beautiful.

that is great you have lost 15 lbs that must feel good!! I have been working out like crazy this past month and can definitely see a difference in my legs  and my arms... but my abs aren't budging at all!! I still have 7 weeks so we are being crazy healthy!!

My Fiance is doing a cleanse and I am doing high protein no sugar carbs or alcohol for 3 weeks!! hopefully I won't get too crabby!

Btw I think your menu sounds great!! How many people?

Well, here's an update on the dress... I went for my first fitting on Saturday, only to find that they had accidentally ordered the wrong dress. Seriously. It was all zipped up in the garment bag, and one of the assistants had left me alone with it while she finished up her other appointment. So I unzip the bag (cue the fanfare), and notice that the color was not quite right... then that the fabric felt a little scratchier than I remembered... then I flipped the dress around, and it was totally the wrong dress (cue the sad trombone).

I have to commend the dress shop though. It was an honest error, and they handled it so incredibly well. To pat myself on the back a little, I also handled it well. As long as I had my dress, in the correct size, and had it altered in time for the wedding without having to pay anything extra, I wasn't going to worry. They were so embarrassed that something like this happened, and I really can't blame them.

Fast forward to Monday morning. The owner of the shop called me at 9am. It turns out that the only dress they had left in the warehouse just happened to be in the color and size that I had wanted! So, at least the story has a happy ending (hopefully!). I have my new first fitting scheduled for April 16th, so I'll let you know how it goes!

As for the invitations, this is what they look like! http://www.minted.com/customizer/sku/MIN-J91-INV

They were absolutely perfect. I was able to find some great textured paper in complementary blue-greens to line our envelopes, and sprayed with a coconut-scented spray. I also ordered custom postage from Zazzle that looked like this: http://www.zazzle.com/beach_rsvp_wedding_small_postage-172451310809429944.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
