Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! I haven't been on in awhile, but I did want to share something with all of you. I decided I didn't want the traditional instruments for the Bridal Chorus and Wedding March,we are getting married in paradise so the music should reflect this! :) What is better than Steel Drums?!

So I started looking for Steel Drum players who play the traditional wedding songs and I found a guy! If you order the Wedding CD, you get another CD with songs like Margaritaville, One Love...for $25.00! I got the CD's and we LOVE them! The bridesmaids are going to walk down the aisle to One Love and my dad and I will walk down the aisle to the traditional Bridal Chorus. If this is something you're interested in check out the site!

We did a little mixture of both! I had a couple songs that were instrumental but not really your traditional songs at all, and then once they finished our ceremony we'd kissed and everything, they played a song that has lyrics and everything that is one of "our" songs and it was perfect. And it was even funny that one of the lines is "here is the church and here is the steeple, we sure are cute for two ugly people" and we were just laughing playing that for all our family and friends! I say that since it's your wedding and less traditional than a local one would be, that you should go with whatever fits you and FI the best!

As for cake, we had the Mexican milk cake and everyone said it was really good. Turns out I have issues cutting enough pieces but I think DH and I were the only ones who *didn't* end up with a piece so we just pigged out on all the extra whipped cream topping!!

And we didn't write a single word of vows or anything at all! We were doing the symbolic ceremony and just went with what the minister (?) had prepared already. It never occurred to me to check ahead what he would be saying, until I read Michele's comments regarding the religious content of hers! Haha!

So last minute they changed wedding coordinators on me. I have Sandra now. Luckily Ginalyn says she's good so I'm not worried. And actually it turns out that I've communicated more with the concierge then with my wedding coordinator. For example, we wanted a phone number that our guests could call to reach a main wedding person if needed (we didn't want to be the contact person so it's our best man) and the concierge was able to buy us a pay as go phone so we had the number to put on all our welcome packet info.

Anyway the reason I'm writing is because I just filled out the wedding questionnaire from Sandra and it mentions that favors delivered to guest's room would be an additional $2 per room. Our traditional favor (maracas) will be given to our guests at the reception but is the OOT bag considered a favor? Was anyone charged for OOT bag delivery?

I think I heard from someone else that the OOT bags would have a delivery charge if the hotel delivered them, so I just did it all myself. Actually to be honest, the first night our whole group was there, I'd been drinking lots (but still less than everyone else!!) and I stayed up until like 3am assembling my bags (the bags were packed flat and all the contents brought down in ziplocks!) and then I ran around to leave them on doors for guests to find in the morning. Everyone got their bags and I saved on delivery charges :)

P.S. for those of you who haven't checked out Adrianne's planning thread yet, it's AMAZING and you should go take a look!

Aww you're sweet Meghan!

You are crazy awesome staying up and delivery OOT bags :)

To everyone... Another question, Sandra is trying to charge us per person for the cocktail hour. We don't need a private bar. We just want to drink the drinks that the guests already paid for. Sandra's email is kinda freakin me out because she has all these questions that I figured we'd discuss once we were face to face...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
