Please forgive me if this is already in a thread somewhere (I've exhausted all search term options!), but I'm wondering if anyone has uploaded a wedding guide for THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen (or Cancun, for that matter, I'm sure the info would be roughly the same).

I'm trying to get an idea of the added costs for having a wedding there and it's taking awhile for the WC to get back to me. If this info is somewhere out there already, I'd rather her not waste her time!

What I'm looking for is more complete info than what's on the website already. In the Dreams Tulum thread, there's some fantastic attachments about all the details. Does anyone have anything like this for ROYAL?

Added costs for additional guests and other upgrades are a concern to us and will definitely be the "clincher" when making the final decision about where we're going to do this. I have the booking form and legal requirements info already, it's all the other stuff I'm wondering about!

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!! TIA!!!

I am interested in information on the Royal too. Hoping to get more from the TA that I have been working with so far. If she gets back to me with more info, I will let you know. If anyone does have further details, do share! She did mention all of their clients come back with rave reviews about the Royal.

Our guests will likely stay at the Gran (all ages). Is that a concern for you? We will only have a few younger guests. I wonder what the cost is at the Royal if everyone, including bride and groom, stays at the Gran?

There is so much to consider!

Hi Oscar_Ernie,

After my last post, I came across a long thread for the Royal. It may not answer all of your questions, but what I read so far is helpful....

It is titled:

ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Hope you can find it, if you haven't already!

Thanks gals. Yes, I did see that thread, but (at the time at least) didn't have much of the specific info I'm looking for.

Yes, Jillian, I'm guessing most of my guests will want to save some money and stay at the Gran too. I also wonder what impact that will have on the cost for those of us staying at ROYAL. I'm guessing a few guests may also choose to go an even cheaper route too, with money being tight for most folks these days. I'm really curious to know how much the day passes cost because, of course, we'd be covering that for our guests. That could REALLY add up if many stay next door.

I'm going to check out that thread again and see if any new info has been posted. Just thought I'd check if anyone out there had documents that could be posted for us. Thanks, gals!

I'll give the info that I can off the top of my head. For our reception on the beach, it was $50.00 per person if they stayed at one of the resorts owned by this company. If they are staying at another resort, it is $60.00 per person. It doesn't matter if you get a buffet or plated meal. Our reception was wonderful. The food was great. We only had a cake that was supposed to serve 12 people and we had 23. It didn't matter that we didn't get extra because everyone was full after dinner and your dinner includes a desert. We had them store our cake in a freezer and we just called them and told them what night we wanted it so that they could thaw it out and have it delivered to our room for a romantic night alone. Our wedding package also only included 12 glasses of champagne for a toast after the ceremony but they gave us enough for everyone without being asked. I'm glad that we didn't go ahead and pay the extra money for more of these items. We did not pay for any extra decorations other than the centerpieces on the tables. It really wasn't needed. The centerpieces were $50.00 a piece. I was happy that we did this. After our reception we gave one to both sets of parents, we took ours, and we gave the other one to some friends of ours whose anniversary just happened to be the next day. For the next week our room smelled beautiful! Every time we walked in, all you could smell was lillies! I will try to remember what the cost of day passes were and I will let you know. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to PM me and I will help with whatever I can. Oh yeah, one more thing. We did go over to the Gran Porto since we had access to all of their facilities. It was like a circus over there. There were kids running all over the place and screaming. The food wasn't nearly as good....although it was more "kid friendly" fare. The hallways were dark and I felt like I was walking through a cave. At the Royal, everything was bright and open. Just beautiful. I am very happy that we payed the extra money for The Royal. It was definitely worth it. I don't think our trip would have been at all relaxing if we stayed across the street.

Thanks, this is especially helpful info! I'd like my guests to have the option of saving a few bucks (plus, a couple may bring kids anyway), but it's good to know that we're making the right decision to stay at The Royal ourselves. That place just look gorgeous!!! I can't wait!

Sorry, but as far as I know there isn't. I know it's not quite the same as connecting with others who will be at your exact resort location, but you're ALWAYS welcome to come share with us on the Playa del Carmen thread instead. =) The info should be about the same and we'd love to talk with you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
