I had the craziest doctor appt...OMG!

Wow, that is crazy. I'd be less likely to report him though, cuz it seems like he is having a breakdown, or breakthrough maybe? Like perhaps something happened in his personal life that made him go crazy. I only say that cuz if he had a sign up stating "I am no longer perscribing bc pills due to my religious beliefs."; it would seem that something new happened to spurn the writing of that sign. Then perhaps he had a momentary lapse in judgement. However big that lapse might be.

I would've walked right out the door too, but I don't think I would report him. I have done things in the heat of the moment (I told my bosses that I was giving my notice when my ex boyfriend and I broke up, cuz he worked in the same office! Stupid. but I did it and wished I hadn't and didn't even quit! We ended up working side by side for years after that.) Anyway, that's my two cents.

I will probably not report him. Here is my reasoning...obviously he has a clientele that appreciates his bedside manner. Perhaps his church all go to him, who knows. It was very inappropriate and I will not go back to him. I will just chalk it up as a funny story to tell and a whacked out doctor.

Good gawwd Yari, what in the world? I would have thought the same thing, is this Candid Camera or what? Seriously, as if the ol' yearly ob/gyn visit's not awkward enough as it is besides this wacko! How can this guy get away with that? Sorry you had to go thru that tho, just crazy!

OMG!!! I wish I can say I hadn't had a similar situation but I have. A few years back we went to the pharmacy to get a day after pill and they had us wait for a pharmacist who would provide it because the one on call would not ..."it did not conform with her personal beliefs."

I was as shocked as you are and felt embarrassed and hurt at the same time. Shortly after that experience the state passed a law that pharmacists have to provide the drug regardless of their personal beliefs.

Actually, his beliefs and his work are who he is and I think it's great for him to be up front about what he believes and to stand with his convictions. He is a private individual, not a government employee. Everyone can make their own choice about whether or not they want to go there. He doesn't waste your time, he lets you know up front where he's coming from. We still have freedom of speech in this country and he was exercising it. We really need to stand up for our freedom to believe the way we want to, even if no one else agrees. Lots of people's beliefs are offensive to me, but I just walk away and let them do their own thing and I'll go do mine. Just like everything else in life, if you don't like the TV program, turn it off. If you don't like someone, walk away.

Emily,

his beliefs are not his 'work' - he is a Doctor, who has to adhere to a regulatory body that governs his medical license. he may be a 'private individual' but he is a service provider entrusted with other people's health. it is ridiculous to have other peoples personal opinions imposed upon us in extremely personal situations.

how would you like to go to the bank to make a withdrawl for $1000 - the teller asks you what it is for and you say a political contribution for whatever party - the teller then tells you she won't authorize the withdrawl b/c she doesn't agree with your politics. wait - that is YOUR money right - you shouldn't have to adhere to her beliefs (even if you respect them).

this is a lot bigger than free speech - this is OUR BODIES. not everyone can afford to go to multiple doctors, has access (there are people who live in towns with 1 doctor) or is educated enough to know that there are choices - the significance of Doctor's imposing thier personal belief is way beyond 'just walking away'

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
