If you have any questions on various ports - let me know! Congrats on the big day!
I would love to hear your recommendations! We are taking Royal Caribbean/Adventure of the Seas. It goes to the Southern Caribean (Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, etc..)

I've stayed at El San Juan and really enjoyed it. There is a small mall, casino, great pools, great restaurants, etc. What price range are you looking for? I think I paid $150/night but only stayed a few days. I prefer to stay at At Windchimes Inn in Condado personally.

Aruba and Curacao are great destinations - it's a desert climate so you get the cactus and everything. The downtown areas are great since they have the Dutch - Carribean theme. Other islands that are my favorites are Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, and St. Martin - I've done quite a few of the excursions from the ships as well.

I have a few questions on the El Convento and I know a few of my fellow PR brides are getting married there. To me it's the perfect location since it's close to the church and the people attending will probably enjoy more the old town feel vs. the beach. The pictures on the website are beautiful.

I talked to a wedding coordinator who was trying to talk us out of it and I'm not sure if it's because she doesn't have the relationships there? She was making it sound like it is run-down. Any advise would be appreciated. My party will be small - around 30 people and that Salon Matorell would have made a great place for a small reception.

Thanks in advance!!

I didn't marry at El Convento but I have been there twice and think it is beautiful and NOT rundown. Did the coordinator give you specifics on what is less than optimal or why she feels the way she does? When I almost switched venues last minute, El Convento was very kind, prompt and helpful. I would ask for details.

I appreciate the quick responses - it makes me feel much better as their Salon Martorell seems beautiful for a small gathering and the location is ideal for the group I expect to come. The coordinator said that the hotel needed a paint job and that it was overrated...perhaps she didn't have a good experience there? Everyone has different taste and I'm not expecting a place that's brand new!

Evie - I received a price list from them - do they negotiate and are you using them as your hotel as well?

Yes, we are using them as the hotel. We were able to negotiate a little but not much. But many of our guests are staying in other locations on the beach. I stayed there one night and really enjoyed it. Their nightly wine and cheese hour is so nice. They have an honor bar, a plunge pool that is open 24 hours, good mojitos, and it is near nice restaurants, etc.. I found the staff to be friendly. It has an intimate feel to it. There are small tables outside of the hotel rooms overlooking the lower floors and the atrium (I am not describing it well). If you want to have a quiet morning with coffee you can sit there. It is very romantic! The hotel is colorful, with lots of plants-pretty.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
