Puerto Rico Brides!

Yay for Puerto Rico brides!! My fiance and I are planning a Feb 2010 wedding! We spent a a week in November down there and can't wait to head back!! We traveled most of the island plus Vieques so feel free to send questions my way! I think we will get married in San Juan, Rincon or Vieques.. decisions, decisions!!

 

Can't wait to get to know everyone!!

Several hotels are located on beaches though in PR there are no private beaches so you may have people milling about and you may not find any cute arbors, gazebos, etc. The San Juan Water club was inexpensive if I remember correctly. El San Juan has a neat gate looking out on the beach but is right off the pool area. Maybe you can get a permit?(for an arbor or something) and hire a judge to do the ceremony. In the Condado area there are several hotels really close to the beach that would be great for dinner/reception.

Have you considered having the ceremony at San Cristobal Fort? I think they have a chapel there as well. You would have to pay for a permit $50 and obtain a liability insurance. It's in old San Juan and you can easily walk to the fort and then walk over to a restaurant for dinner then hit the clubs or bars. Here is the link to the fort for the information:

El Morro has a chapel that has about 10 pews. It is very cute with a little alter though the back wall has some mildweing which make it more authentic!

If any brides want to have pictures taken at El Morro, just wanted to let you know that you do not need a permit if it's just you, groom & photographer.

You can even enter El Morro & have pictures taken inside.

If there is any extra equipment or personnel, you will need to submit the paperwork for the Photo Permit with the $50 fee.

I just got engaged and I'm a newbie to all this planning - it sounds like PR could be a great option for a wedding. So far I've been thinking about DR, Bahamas, or Jamaica as well, but I'm not sure whether the all-inclusive is the way to go since some of the guests aren't big drinkers or beach people (although I typically enjoy the all-inclusive resorts). My fiancee wants to get married in a catholic church so PR could be a better option than one of the all-inclusive resorts as well.

 

I'm hoping to keep it small 20-30 people max and have a larger party when we get home. I'm still researching and have been making my way through the different posts. I have no idea how much all of this costs, so if anyone has any budgets or information that they have compiled and would be willing to share, please e-mail it to me uconncruiser@yahoo.com.

 

I would also love to see any pictures of any PR locations that people have used as well. I've been to PR a few times usually before/after a cruise and I've stayed at the Ritz Carlton and the Sheraton in Old San Juan so I can definitely picture it being a beautiful setting for a wedding!

Uconn, I will be married at Hotel El Convento which is right across from the SJ Cathedral. It might be an option for you. It's a beautiful hotel that was originally a convent.

Help!! My wedding in Puerto Rico is scheduled for 4/7/09 and I cannot figure out how to make it legal!! How do I get a marriage license? I know that we need blood tests within 10days and that we have the minister sign and then we get a special stamp, but how, what, when and where Cannot find good info online all the numbers have been disconnected? Please if you can help, I'd so appreciate it, the time is ticking!!!

On this site it will give you marriage information. Once you are on there page, scroll down to the bottom and you will need to click on a link that says "Click here and download your Puerto Rico Weddings & Honeymoons Guide. Start planning your wedding today." It's a pdf file that will give you the adress and telephone number.
