I stayed in Da House about a year and a half ago and LOVED it!! Definitely go for it if you want a small boutique feel. Two things to consider: it's four floors with no elevator; its above a popular salsa bar, and the noise echos throughout, so don't plan on getting to bed early.

We decided to book the Villa Sevilla for the whole week.

I looked at Da House Hotel & it looks nice too, but I think we will just stay at the Villas and make a day trip to San Juan area.

Actually we still need a few more "villa" type places if anyone knows of another place.

My entire family (of 24) will be staying at the Villa Sevilla but now my FI wants something similar for his friendshuh.gif?

Any other suggestions out there?

Better yet, do you know of any "villas" in the vicinity?
I think "villas" would be more economical because people can group together & split the cost.
They can be located pretty much anywhere. I want my guests to be able to experience San Juan & other parts of the island.

Thanks for any feedback!!!
The only villas that I know about, are the ones at Villa Sevilla. I have no idea if they are any good, I haven't booked anything with them (but I am thinking about it for our honeymoon)

As for other Inns in San Juan, I have heard good things about The Gallery Inn and The Coqui Inn. There are of course the more typical cheaper options like Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson.

I would really recommend you by the Frommer's Guide to Puerto Rico-- they have really great advice and recommendations for where to stay in PR that fits ALL budgets.

Look in the Condado area. Its just outside of San Juan and much cheaper. I love At Windchimes Inn for the price, service, and location. They also have a sister hotel that is about a year old called Acacia Inn. The Gallery Inn is way too expensive and difficult to deal with-see my review for details.

Another PR bride here! I'll only be there a day though... we're taking a cruise and getting married when we stop in San Juan. I haven't made any solid plans yet, but I'm in love with The Ritz. I'm sure it'll be way out of my budget, so if anyone knows of anywhere nice kinda close to the port, I'd love to hear about it! I'll take any recommendations I can get!

Hey Puerto Rico Brides!!

I'm happy to tell you that although my FI and I decided to postpone our April 2009 wedding, we already have a new date set and will continue with planning our wedding. When we initially decided to postpone our wedding I thought I needed a "wedding planning break". I went to visit my bf in Chicago (to get away) & even went to the Oprah show! Anyhow I cut my mini vacation short & was back home the very next day and ready to pick a wedding date! My FI was shocked but super happy.

So I'm back! Still a Puerto Rico Bride just with a few more months added to my ticker! :)

Hey Girls!

Yes we are still getting married at El Conquistador. Actually today we will be signing the new contracts. It's either going to be April 10, 2010 or April 17, 2010. I'm waiting to hear back from my wedding planner regarding the availability on the 10th.

-I never spent much time reading through the contracts with the resort. I just knew El Conquistador was the place and that's it. Come to find out that if we had decided to postpone (w/o future date) not only would we have lost ALL the money we paid on deposits (ceremony site @ resort, food & liquor,rooms,etc..) we would have been expected to PAY the resort approx an additional $5000.00!!!!! The only reason we were not penalized was because FI Dad passed away so the resort waived penalty fees!- SO,BEWARE OF THE CONTRACTS!!!!!!!!

So tell me girls, how's the planning going?

Have you guys bought your dress? Did I miss the pictures?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
