Puerto Rico Brides!

Thanks for the info!

Hopefully, the forts aren't too far either since I would like pictures in front of El Morro, at least.

El Morro, and any of the old spanish colonial forts throughout Puerto Rico are US Federal parks. They require special permissions to take photographs there and unfortunately charge a fee also (~$50).

Here's the contact info to the offices that manage these sites:

Cheers,

- James

El Morro is right around the corner from El Convento. If you want to take pics outside there is no charge. There are still many walls and turrets you can have in the background as well as the ocean and cemetary. I totally recommend it. I actually just brought my dress and changed there. I also brought along a kite and we got some great shots on the lawn.

If you aren't afraid of pigeons, las parque de palomas is down the street and could make for some artistic shots.

Haven't chosen a DJ.

We will be in PR during Sept so I hope to resolve some of the loose strings I have.

We decided on El Convento because of price. Out of all the hotels in the area, it made sense cost wise for us. It's a beautiful hotel & I'm sure we'll get lots of great shots there.

James, thanks for the number. I'll call & check if I will need a permit for shooting outside. Still want to have pictures taken at a couple other places so we wouldn't actually go into El Morro.

JamisonCollette, I love the picture of you & your husband walking down an Old San Juan street. Beautiful.

Where were you married?

Sam, if you would like an extra photo shoot, check with your photog. I'm sure they could take you around SJ for a day before session. It will cost you extra but would be completely worth it, IMO.

We were married at The Gallery Inn, which btw I would never recommend, on Norzaguray St. Since many of the streets are blue the picture will be easy to recreate. Our El Morro shots were taken by a friend several days after the wedding. The fort closes at 5:00 so no sunset pics unless you are outside. There is a small gift shop outside the gates with a restroom and also several turrets if you want to change there. I would suggest all your biggest guy friends stand in front of the opening to shield you :).

I'm so glad you posted because we were VERY close to booking The Gallery Inn.

In the end, Jan gave me some song about creating wedding packages for parties that would not have many guests staying at the hotel & I never heard from her again.

Shame. I think her hotel is beautiful.

We'll be doing our shots before the wedding. LOL

We're non-traditional so it's not a big deal to us & I want to be able to enjoy the FULL reception time with my guests.

We'll be shooting at Paseo La Princesa, Puerta de San Juan, El Morro & La Rogativa & maybe some shots in front of the Cathedral.

Any other suggestions?

I would love to see your pics if you don't mind sharing.

Where are the other PR Brides?

Just got back from our trip to the island & I feel like I got a lot accomplished.

I've picked out our cake.

Picked out our flowers & a band, as well.

And, although I met with many photographers I'm having a hard time choosing one.

It's the one item we've decided to splurge a bit on & it's hard making up my mind.

We also paid a visit to the Hotel & I LOVED it.

I will post some pictures as soon as I've uploaded them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
