i really like this idea of spilling coffee/wine on them - i wouldn't bother sending one to her anyway - just say you were devasted when they got ruined and the Bridal Party took over so you didn't have to deal with it/

Ok, I like the idea of sending your mom and her the original one and then send out new ones.

Or else I like the idea of spilling coffee on them and blaming your FI. LOL!
I would do this. She doesn't need to know that you sent others to some people. I love the spilling idea.. lol There's no point in telling her cause her feeelings will be hurt.

It is so hard when people are trying to be helpful and it's not your taste... like when a relative gives you a sweater or something that is hideous and then you feel obligated to wear it when you see them.... rock and a hard place...

does she know you recieved them? maybe call and tell her you'll be home so she can drop them off now, and when she says she did, you can act like they are no where to be found, some punk kid must have snatched them from your porch

actually tho, i like what erin suggeted and i think honesty is the best policy so be glad she went to the effort, and try to zip your lips about it no matter how much you dont like them.

            Wow, tough situation...

I'm torn between honesty and preventing a 'war'...

Has anyone but yourself seen them?

I know this SUCKS, but I would just let it go as well. Everyone knows the invites usually come from the host and not the bride.

My sister has horrible handwriting so I didn't care for the non-computer printed invites she sent out for my shower, or the thank you notes she so graciously addressed for me ... but I had to remember the thought that went into it on her part! And for a shower #2 she did evites ... not my cup of tea for bridal-related stuff, but .... she took the initiative and cared enough to do it ... and THAT is what truly counts!!!

I agree with those who say just let it go....not only because everyone will know that you had nothing to do with the invites and to recognize that she went to the effort....but because if I tried to lie and tell her that something spilled on them, my face would go beat red and everyone would know for a fact I was lying :)

I'm dying to see what these hideous things look like...!
It's a tough situation and although in a way I really do believe you shouldn't have anythign to do with the shower, I don't know if I'd be able to not interfere myself.

It's weird that you even saw them... they should have been in the mail already. Did your BMs bring them to you? What do they all think you should do? What does your mom think?
