My mom has a friend who i get along with really well and i guess at some point she asked my mom if it would be okay if she helped with my bridal shower. She wanted to make the invitations for me since she likes that type of stuff. I've seen others that she's done for friends and she's really creative.

Well she dropped off the invites at my place yesterday so that i could mail them out (i was not there). When i finally had a chance to look at them i thought i might have a Bridezilla moment....these things were horrendous. I mean, she basically used paper thiner than regular copy paper and did a gatefold....with a whole bunch a stupid stickers and useless beads. She used half of an 8.5x11 and didn't even use scissors to cut them. She tore them with a ruler! The wording is too small for the page and they all look different It's like she let here 8 and 5 year old kids do them.censored.gif

My bridal party had nothing to do with this and want to do up new ones, but the problem is I don't know how to tell her that they're Crap and need a really good lie as to why we had to make new ones. I don't want to tell her i hate them cause i don't want to insult her, or seem ungrateful. I've sent out the save the dates and the wedding invites and they're totally cool compared to these things she made, did she not see that i was going for the "casual/chic' feeling.

How can i have new ones made and still keep the peace.

I'd post pics but i'm at work and don't have my camera, will post later tonight with STD and invites so you can see what i'm talking about.

You can do this but you need to make sure mom and friend get the original invite.

Frist off, how many invites are we talking? Since it's just a shower, I honestly don't think it would be a huge deal. You don't want to insult anyone, especially since she probably feels like she did a really good thing for you.

Your BP will know you hate them and most people should recognize they weren't your taste. At the shower, you stand up and offer a toast or whatever to your guests to thank them for coming and a special thank you to mom's friend for making the invites as her gift to you. This should clarify the situation.

I had a shower and the invites and decor weren't what I would have done, but I know the hostess worked really hard and I wouldn't dream of hurting her feelings by telling her so. She is really sensitive and this would not have gone over well.

Aw, what a shame. Don't panic though, everything is fixable.

Ok- so there is no way you can be honest and tell her they weren't what you expected?? If you do truely feel that it wall make things weird, just say you spilled something on them and you're girls ordered new ones.

Make sure you post pix, and keep us posted! Good luck!

OMG! I would def say someone spilled something on them.Especially if you aren't happy with them. What a nightmare! But the good news is you have time to change them! What a difficult position to be in. But in the end you don't want to be left stressing about the invites. It's better to tell the white lie than hurt her feelings :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
