Another thing, I also really like the napkin holders too.

Maybe a good way to tie them together?

I really wanted to do these for my wedding, I saw the kit at Michael's and loved them!

But the only issue I was having is that I would have had to make them when I got to mexico, because I don't think they would have transported well and I didn't have any extra time once I got there. But they're very pretty!

Girls,

Very quickly I made a few of these just to see how easy they were, and they are a snap to create!!!! Martha suggests using 8 TP for the big ones, however, I used 10 and I think that I would add more, my biggest one isn't as puffy as what I had hoped.

The smaller ones worked well at 10. I love the napkin holders and I think that as a special treat, I'll add some ribbon to the them and maybe a little starfish or two.

It took about 10 minutes to do one so I'm hoping that by recruiting my sisters and Mom in Mexico, together, we will be able to get them done at rapid speed.

Lindsay- I haven't talked to you in ages. How's it going? I like yours for your AHR, I think it's cute that your "fluffers" didn't fluff enough. LoL. It's still very very beautiful.

YAY! I've decided on making these for my wedding too!! I will be making the luminaries before I go and cutting and folding the pom poms ahead of time as well. Our reception will be on the beach so instead of hanging them we will be clipping them onto stands (the tall skinny ones with an alligator clip on the end, like they use in furniture showrooms). The stands are really thin (think a straightened out coat hanger size) and will sit above the guests heads. I'm also thinking of adding these cute illuminated picture frames but with white frames and pictures of FI and I when we were kids.

I tried making one of the napkin holders/rings today...and this is how it turned out. I didn't have any fancy tissue paper, only tracing paper from the dollar store...

I followed the: 4 - 10" x 5" sheets, fanned, tied together with cooking twine (no wire)! and voila!

I tried the larger ones...but...my tracing paper were just 8 1/2 x 11 sheets...it didn't turn out at all...but I think I'm gonna head to the store tomorrow, and see if I can invest in some REAL tissue!

Those look so great! I haven't tried the smaller ones yet but I did try the large ones. I used standard tissue paper for gift wrapping from the Dollarama. They have tons of colors and for $1 a package you can't beat the price.

I'm planning on doing as much of the assembly ahead of time as I can. My parents and FI sisters have already committed to helping with the "fluffing" while we're in Cuba.

OOO I love the napkin holders- I didn't see those at Michaels!

i did however see the "Seaside" collection from MS and gobbled up as much as possible for our AHR. They are more like a lantern w/a wire and they open up= But I thought that they would look pretty hanging from the center of the tent we are renting with tulle draped to the corners. $5.99 for 6!

Then I got matching wine labels for the tables $1.49

Then I found the matching invites for the AHR -- $9 a box!

I just wish that I could find the little placecard favor boxes to match.

I went to EVERY Michaels in the area and can't find them anywhere!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
