Check out Iberostar - Hotels and Resorts

This document is from 2007 and prices of course changed but they should of sent you the wedding package document (if not ask for it) and in fine print on the bottom it says more than 10 people is $18 per person plus the wedding package cost. So if you are doing the basic civil package for 2009 it's $2450 plus more than 10 people $18 per person (12 and under are free of charge). If you are doing the cocktail hour (apps and drinks) it's $12 per person and 11 and under are free. If you are renting out the Tropical it's $800. If you want extra copy's of wedding license (which you should definetly get) it's $10 per copy. Daypass's for (outside vendors or GUESTS not staying at Iberostar resort) is depending if they are coming during the day or night (day is $50 and night $35). What other fees hmmmm..... Ohhh, and the new blood test fee is $90 per person which is required for a civil legal marriage. I think I have a old copy somewhere if you like I can email you it?

Jeannie - I think have a a blessing ceremony is a great idea and I would have totally done that for our wedding had I known that I could prior to booking everything (I hadn't found BDW at that point lol so I had no idea).

Kimrae99 - No problemo, always a pleasure helping you ladies out! :)

briscoecrown - I know, it's totally messed up as far as civil ceremony requirements go. All they could tell me was that each resort side has their own rules that their management make regarding civil ceremony requirements lol. Hopefully they'll give you a straight answer, I know that before I knew for sure what I needed for the civil ceremony that this was definitely my biggest point of stress.

Regarding civil ceremony wording, I actually posted it in another thread on BDW a little while back. I'll take a look and see if I can find it for you and paste it here for you and all future brides that are having a civil ceremony at the Iberostar. I thought it was good overall, short and sweet. It was pretty traditional but Gabriela told me that we could write our own vows but we opted for the standard/traditional vows as we were more comfortable with that. $350 just to include your own ceremony seems like a money grab to me...that makes me so irritated! Like they're not making enough money on your wedding as it is?!? Sheesh!

Ok, here it is. I typed it up word for word what my paper says (they gave me a copy of what the ceremony after the wedding...why? I have no idea lol oh well, it came in handy after all!) Does this help, briscoecrown? :)

        Mexican Civil Marriage Advices

Ladies and gentlemen, according to the laws of this country we are gathered here to join the bonds of Matrimony which is an honorable status:

        _____________ (groom) and ________________ (bride)

Seeing it is a very important act, I would kindly ask everybody to remain in silence.

As witnesses of this important act, there are present here:

        1. _______________________

        2. _______________________

        3. _______________________

        4. _______________________

Who will sign the marriage document.

A great Mexian philosopher of the nineteenth century, Mr. Melchor Ocampo, wrote in his legendary letter, the following words that until today are always read in our
wedding ceremonies, "marriage", it says is the only legal and moral way to found a family, to preserve mankind and avoid imperfections of the human being who are only able to obtain the perfection of the human race through matrimony in a conjugal duality. Men and women have the same rights, but it is important to observe their respective obligations. Both of you should have respect, fidelity, trust and assistance to one another and also tenderness and love, much love. Do not fight with one another, use your heads and your hearts to correct something wrong.

Both of you should be aware of the great responsibility of being parents, because you should provide your children with attention, good example to follow during the rest of their lives. I now ask two questions to your witnesses.

        1. Are ________________ (groom) and __________________ (bride) persons you know well?
        2. And are there any objections for them to be joined in legal marriage in Mexico?

__________________ (groom) do you accept ___________________ (bride) as your beloved and wedded wife, __________________ (bride) do you accept _____________ (groom) as your beloved and wedded husband?

_________________ (groom) and _____________(bride) after ratifying your wish to get legally married by means of your signature and your witnesses' signature and in the presence of your family and friends in the name of the law and the society and with the authority from the Solidaridad Municipal, here in Quintana Roo, Mexico, I now declare you husband and wife.

        You may kiss the bride.

        CONGRATULATIONS!

Playa del Carmen, Solidaridad, Quintana Roo. The _____________ (day/month) of _________ (year)

El C. Oficial 07 del Registro Civil.

Pariasobeachbride2009 --- FANTASTIC!!! THANKS SO MUCH for posting this again!!!!

At this point, it's too late for me to switch to a blessing ceremony. The trip is already booked (4 day early arrival) and we preferred to have only 1 wedding day. I definitely agree with you.. this is a stress point! Part of me feels like having every possible document available... Apostille, translations, birth certificates, passports, SS card, work ID, HS diploma, first grade report card (lol)... just to be on the safe side. I would be HEATED if we get down there and there's some 'last minute' change to the requirements.

My pleasure!! Haha, you're so funny! It DOES feel like you should bring everything but the kitchen sink. I think the only way you're going to get peace of mind regarding the reqs is if you confirm them directly with your WC, preferrably in Spanish if you can. I really wish that they would just keep it uniform for the entire resort (beach/del mar/lindo/maya/grand)...that would be so much LESS frustrating for brides lol.

That's another one of my peeves... the FEES!! There are fees for everything!!! Anytime I ask a question I prepare myself for the fee associated with the answer. It's a shame.

Quite honestly, I think they should throw-in some extras for the amount of business a wedding brings to the resort. They can even set-up a system based on the amount of guests or rooms booked. But who am I?!?!? LOL

BTW, I've done absolutely NO WORK today!!! This site is addictive!!

briscoecrown - I totally agree with that! It's so f'in annoying...everything at the Iberostar that is wedding related comes with a price...even when they TELL you that it won't (like my flowers, obviously I'm still pissed about that lol). All I can say over and over is confirm every last detail, especially in regards to site decoration. I thought I was getting one thing and I got something completely different.

I just received a response from the Maya/Lindo WC regarding the documents for the civil/legal ceremony. She sent the exact same documentation that's in the wedding package.... Passports, Tourist cards and BIRTH CERTIFICATES translated into Spanish by an official translator attached with an “Apostille”.

Looks like I have to get started on finding an official translator!

BTW, Lily Perez is now responding. I haven't received anything from Antonieta lately.

Hi Gail- I am renting the Tropical and we are doing 7 tables of 10 people at each. I have confirmed this with both Gabriella and Renya. They both have said the tables will work for 6,8 or 10 people per table. I think 8 or 10 people is perfect. I have seen a few pitures of other weddings at the Tropical and the tables look like they can seat 8-10 perfectly. Here is a link for pictures at the Tropcial that I found on Mr.Iberostar.com picture #135 us a good pic of the tables. del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism
