Is that the legal or "blessing" ceremony? Do you know if we can cut any of that out? It seems to be a little longer than I was hoping for.

I know of another bride that got married at the Lindo & she wrote the whole ceremony herself.

LOL....not sure if I am ready to take on that much of a challenge. I think I am leaning towards short and sweet. Though I am religous, I am not looking for scriptures to be read or anything like that.

LOL - me neither! I found one that was nice, not overly religious. Let me see if I can find the link to it.

Hi! This information is helpful! My finace and I starting to research resorts in Rivieria Maya for out DW in May/June of 2009. The Iberostar is one we are interested in. It sounds like most of you have good things to say so far. Just wondering if there is anything we should look for, ask about specifically, etc. There is so much to consider and so much information available--it is a little overwhelming as I am sure you all know.

I also read that BeachBride is getting married in November (almost here!), I would love see some pics and get your review when you are back. Hope all of the planning is going well!

            Thanks!

Check out the Iberostar wedding board. Weddings at Iberostar Resorts It has a ton of information on all the resorts & links to many photos/videos. It was really helpful in me choosing the Lindo. The only thing I never knew & kind of wish I had known (you may already know this), is that at the Lindo/Maya you can't have a private reception (meal & dance together). The dinner is at one of the a la carte's - so only semi-private. The reception (if over 40 people) has to be at the disco (which I've heard is cheesy - star wars themed) or the convention center. If it's under 40, the Vitrales room is where you hold the reception. The del mar/beach resorts allow you to have a fully private reception. I still prefer the Lindo cause the resort itself has more of what I was looking for, but it's something to think about, depending on what's important to you. Oh - & congratulations!!

Yes, my wedding is approaching quickly. Time really goes by so fast! I will definitely be posting a review and pictures when I get back. I wish there had been more information on the Iberostar resorts when I started planning so I'm hoping my information will help you future brides.

I think you can make changes to the ceremony. It is the blessing ceremony. It is more religious than I thought it would be, but I don't know what I would want to change it to so we'll probably just leave it. We have a lot of guests that are more religious than us so I'm sure they will appreciate it especially since we're not getting married in a church.

I would love the link. I guess I can always provide them something I would like or I can scratch through the parts of the ceremony I don't want.

So I don't actually have a link, I just have it in a word document, so I'm pretty sure I got it from someone else at one point. I just can't remember who! It's no shorter than the one Michelle posted, but it's less religious. I'm thinking of taking this one and adjusting it a bit to suit me. Maybe use parts of both. This one has the sand ceremony in it.

                      Opening
We are here today to participate in a most joyous occasion; to celebrate one of the greatest moments in life, by acknowledging the wedding of BRIDE and GROOM.

This beautiful setting should remind us that, like the ocean, human life is an ebb and flow- The life of the spirit and emotions- moves in cycles. To be in a relationship does not guarantee an eternal summer. To make a sincere and honest commitment does not promise, an end to all struggle. What a good relationship does offer, much like this ocean, is the opportunity for renewal. It recognizes the abiding, shared hope that after every fall and winter, spring and summer will come again.

On behalf of BRIDE and GROOM, I welcome you and thank you all for gathering here on this beautiful day to witness their marriage ceremony. The fact that you all have travelled such a great distance to be here today is a testament to the amazing amount of love and support they have. Many of you have given them much happiness, love, warmth, and guidance through the various stages of their lives. They would like to sincerely thank you all for being here to celebrate their big day. A special and respectful acknowledgement must also be made to those friends and family members who were unable to attend, or have passed on, but whose spirit remains alive and strong in all our hearts.

I have also been asked by BRIDE and GROOM to thank their parents for the wonderful lives they have given them, for the hard work and guidance they have provided, for their everlasting love, support, and encouragement. It is from them that they have learned the true meaning of love, friendship and family.

                      Ceremony

The marriage between BRIDE and GROOM does not mark the beginning of a new relationship; rather, it is an acknowledgement and celebration, of a relationship that has been flourishing since they met.

Marriage has been described as living in love with your best friend. Love is one of the few constants in the universe. It is reality, affinity, and communication. Only love is capable of joining living beings by their deepest essence, uniting, completing, and fulfilling them.

You have chosen to walk through life together. There is no truer statement of love. The choice was not made by any one moment, but by being together you grew to realize that you belonged together and that you fulfilled each other’s needs. You have come to thrive upon each other’s presence, loyalty and wisdom. The foundation of your love is profound friendship. A friendship you have nurtured until at last you realized that you wanted to be together always. The commitment you make today will be the foundation on which you will build your life together.

BRIDE and GROOM would you please face each other and join your hands.

                      Vows

BRIDE, as I say these words, would you please repeat after me…

I love you, GROOM. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle.

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life. I am forever yours……faithfully.

GROOM as I say these words, would you please repeat after me…

I love you, BRIDE, You too are my best friend.

                      The Rings

BRIDE and GROOM, your rings are intimately associated with your intent to honor and treasure the vows you have made today. By exchanging rings, resolve to live your vows and not to let them drift in shallow promises. Believe and trust that the words you have spoken have the capacity to create the marriage, family and life of your dreams, and that the rings you exchange will have the power to return you to your vows.

GROOM as you place this ring on BRIDE’s finger please repeat after me…

BRIDE, I give you this ring, as a sign of our marriage, and a lasting reminder, of the vows made between us today. I give you this ring, as a reminder that I will love, honor, and cherish you, in all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever.

BRIDE, if you accept please say I do…

BRIDE as you place this ring on GROOM’s finger, please repeat after me…

GROOM, I to give you this ring, as a sign of our marriage, and a lasting reminder, of the vows made between us today. I give you this ring, as a reminder that I will love, honor, and cherish you, in all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever.

GROOM, if you except, please say “I Do”.

                      Commitment of family and friends

Ladies and Gentlemen, BRIDE and GROOM have demonstrated in your presence today, their belief in their love, and their desire to live together in matrimony. If you also believe in their love, and wish to add your blessing on their marriage today, please respond now by saying……………WE DO

And are you all willing to sustain and strengthen this marriage, by giving BRIDE and GROOM the public commitment of your love and support, through all the ups and downs ahead of them…If you are willing, please say……….WE ARE

                      Sand Ceremony

BRIDE and GROOM, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you, BRIDE and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, GROOM, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be, united as one for all of your days.
                      Pronouncement

Now that you have joined yourselves in marriage, may you strive always to meet this commitment, with the same spirit you now are now shining. We all bear witness to this ceremony you have just performed, and this bond that has been formed today can be broken by none.

In the City of xxxxxxxx, as your officient today, xxxxxxxxxx you may now call yourselves by those old and respected names, Husband and Wife.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Family and Friends

Mr. And Mrs. xxxxxxxxxxx, you may kiss the bride………
