We are using the DJ (for $200 even though he doesn't do anything or really has any music and he doesn't do anncmnts) and making him plug in our Ipod to his equipment. I was under the impression all you really purchase the DJ for is the speakers and stuff... I don't know if you are bringing your own speakers/bose/cd player but otherwise if you are using an Ipod it's kinda a scam but you gotta go with the DJ?!?!

So on that thought... We are doing the DJ and there is an awsome thread on here: "Post your "Must Have" wedding songs" and they list everyone's different playlists for your ipod that you can search through and get ideas! So we are setting up different playlists on our Ipod and giving it to the supposed "DJ" to plug into his equipment and having someone else do announcements like you were thinking... Hope that helps!

That is a great idea! We are getting married July 5 at the Lindo. I didn't realize that the Steakhouse was at the Maya. We had planned doing the Stkhs too! The bar idea is awesome. I thought the Maya was an upgrade and you cant use their facilites wo paying. So it is inc in the Lindo fees?

Also I have had next to zero contact with the coordinators other than questions here and there, but nothing on planning. They said they do all that 3 months before. Since i already know I want the Steakhouse, do I need to reserve it? DO you think someone esle will have already snagged it 3 months before?

I was thinking ipod and get a friend to do the announcing. I head the DJ is a joke since they dont even speak English. Why pay $100 for them to just stand there?

I am pretty sure I saw on the Mr. Iberostar forum that you can rent just the equipment for $50 and bring the iPod. I am going to ask to do that.

The Lindo/Maya are combined with the wedding packages so you are able to use the restaurants and bars at either hotel for the wedding day. However, I know some of our guests ate at the Steakhouse before the wedding and they were staying at the Lindo, but I think there certain restaurants that were for Maya guests only. If guests are staying at the Maya they can go to any of the Lindo restaurants. We got the details sheet from the WC about 2 months before our wedding to fill out with everything we wanted and then we confirmed once we got to the resort. We requested the steakhouse for our wedding dinner and the Italian restaurant for our rehearsal dinner on the sheet. Since they only do one wedding per hotel you won't have an issue with getting the restaurant you want (there can be one wedding at the Del Mar/Beach, one at Lindo/Maya, and one at the Grand per day, but all have access to the restaurants only within those hotels).

Has anyone (that has already been married at the Iberostar) just used the dj equipment and not the DJ? Do they set up the equipment and your ipod or do they just drop the equipment off at the restaurant and say good luck? Just wondering how difficult it could possibly be to get your ipod hooked uphuh.gif I didn't know you could just rent the equipment! Or have you used the dj and did everything go smoothly?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
