Did any of you schedule a "rehearsal" the day before with the wedding party? Back when Reyna was still answering e-mails she said she would set something up, but that the officiant wouldn't be there..... I'm just curious if there was really any benefit to it since the person overseeing the ceremony wouldn't be there. Any opinions?

Paraisobeachbride2009--- thank you very much!

your answer makes complete sense- and was what I figured it would be- but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks again,

Tracy

Booking/Invitiatioin Question

We sent the STD in the beginning of May and included our wedding website. I notice that there aren't a lot of hits on the site and no one has really asked or emailed about booking. My sister is our TA and she hasn't been contacted either. I know I have A LOT of time left, but I was curious when guests starting booking.

Additionally, if I don't see anything by January should I send the invitiations earlier than the traditional 2 months (our wedding is May 1, 2010)huh.gif

Feedback would be VERY helpful.

Thanks =)

Did any of you ladies use yout iPod for the ceremony music? What was the set up? Can I just bring the iPod and they will have speakers and a stero hook up, what excalty does that entail? Do I need to bring my iHome portable to play on the beach?

She said they have hookups, but not sure what all that means. :)

Thanks!

Finleys7 & Tracyann - No problem! Glad I could help you gals out! cheesy.gif

Ctodd - I've seen a rehersal while I was at the Iberostar for my wedding, she's right, the officiant does not attend the rehersal which does make it kind of pointless (imo). I didn't bother with a rehersal and everything went smoothly for my wedding. I think it's whatever you're comfortable with...some people do rehersals so that the GMs and BMs know when to walk down and where to stand and all that jazz...I didn't have any GMs or BMs so it was pointless for me to do it anyway lol.

Short answer is yes, you do have to stay at the resort you are staying at and hold the ceremony at that specific resort. The reason they do this is because they allow one wedding per day at each Iberostar resort on the property. The Del Mar/Beach are one resort so they allow only one wedding per day and the brides staying there get to use the venues on that property. Same goes for the Lindo/Maya resort and they are not permitted to use venues on the Del Mar/Beach side as there may already be another wedding that day using said venues. The Grand has a gorgeous wedding gazebo for its guests if you like gazebos, but you can only use the gazebo on the Grand property.

This is going to be long-winded lol. Any guest staying at the Grand or the Lindo/Maya resort have complete free access to the Del Mar/Beach facilities (Del Mar/Beach is considered a "downgrade" and since you pay more to stay at the Lindo/Maya and Grand, I guess that's why they give guests free access to the Del Mar/Beach side), however, any guests staying at the Del Mar/Beach resort do not have transferrable access to the Lindo/Maya & Grand as they are considered fancier resorts (which would be an upgrade) Also, I believe that guests staying at any resort other than the Grand (were your wedding to be held at the Grand), would require a day pass to attend. The Grand does not under any circumstance allow children on the property as it is strictly an adults-only resort (not even for weddings). If you held your wedding at the Lindo/Maya and some of your guests were staying at the Del Mar/Beach, they would be required to purchase a day-pass to attend. The Del Mar/Beach and the Lindo/Maya resorts are all considered family resorts, so children would be allowed to attend weddings at either of these, just not the Grand.

I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if I can further explain any of this.
Aw man, that really makes sense now why my TA was PUSHING the Beach. I am in love with that Gazebo, but not the fact if I stay at the Beach, I can't use the wave pool and Lazy river and all the additional bars.

I am wondering how expensive this place is going to be for guests.

Hi finleys,

Here is what we did, Sent an Electronic Save the date about 10 months before. I also sent an Evite...this was the biggest thing that helped me plan, I had a daily ticker of who looked at it...and everyone RSVPd through the site. So I knew exactly who was going. Then I got them quotes as they inquired through our TA. Then two months before I sent boarding pass invites only to those who were booked (29 people) and those who had RSVP's but not yet booked (only 4) so this worked really well for us. The Evite, was a great help!

Yeah, it's kind of crappy that way. But I will tell you this much, people in our group staying at the Iberostar Beach side did go to the Lindo/Maya side and used their wave pool without any trouble from the staff, I think the major concern is that (and I know this for a fact) they will not serve you any drinks, food, or any other use of their facilities there. My FIL tried to get a drink at one of their bars and they flat out told him that they would not serve him. Hope this helps! :)

    • Hello all!! I'm planning to get married next week. I'm working in an MNC and I'm gonna marry my colleague who is in my company. It's been ten months since we have started our relationship. He used to support in all my difficulties and used to help me in my work. Always he used to tell me about my smile. He says that I have a very good smile and he loves it. Recently I lost my front tooth after an accident and it resulted in a bad look for me. He told me that I lost my beautiful smile. I was totally disappointed and thought of finding a solution. I heard about dental dentures and took an appointment at a clinic in Scarborough. Will dentures affect my speech? What was your experience of getting dentures?
    • Go for the third one. It is gorgeous and you will look stunning in that. I'm sure you will be noticed by other people. Go for it.
    • I would suggest the long one. You will look stunning in that. It is simple and elegant.
    • Both the gown are awesome and I'm sure you will look gorgeous in both. But I would suggest the first one. Go for it and Congratulations for your marriage.
    • Hello everyone,  I am still engaged, still not planning the big day, because we haven't chosen a date + we have some family stiff to do so I hope that this forum will help me a lot before the real craziness during the wedding planning period. Happy to be here
