Iberostar Brides....POST HERE!

Christy - I had the vanilla cake at my wedding and I personally found it a bit bland. Cake wasn't very important to me, so I wasn't pissed off or anything but if cake taste is important to you then I would not recommend going with vanilla. As far as I know, these are the flavor options: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry cheesecake (I hear the cheesecake tastes amazing!). Hope that helps! :)

We vacationed there last year the exact week of our wedding and it was hot!! Nothing to be worried about but the fans are definately a nice gesture for your guests. We have 90 people booked and ready to go. My only concern is that I haven't heard from Reyna in about 2 weeks, so I'm starting to get a little nervous about that. It usually takes her 24-48 hrs but since the swine and them temporarily closing the Del Mar I feel like its not the same. Soooo hopefully I hear from her ASAP!!! Good luck!
If its any consolation, we're in the same boat SJR...I'm getting married on july 13th at the del mar and I havent heard from Reyna in over 2 weeks. I'm still trying to confirm the wedding details....however it seems from past reviews that everything gets finalized when you actually sit down w/ the Reyna when you get there...

Hey girls, So I have had some drama this week with my wedding party. Need to vent a bit!

FBIL and his wife had a snag on their trip. FSIL originally had her time off approved (she works for the USPO) and now they say she has to work on July 3rd or she will be fired. They were supposed to leave on the 2nd, and now they are leaving on the 4th. So I have been working with the TA to change their room reservations etc, and they had to pay Frontier $300 in change fees. YUCK! FFIL was pissed! Luckily TA rebooked them and they got a $240 refund on the room, which I was very happy with! FFIL is paying for us and them, so he asked hey, maybe we can get a refund too. Although I felt bad for asking, but All he can do is say no! RIght?

Well, I just sent an email saying thank you etc. and BTW, any chance they can get a refund or upgrade? It can't hurt to ask, right? I am sure he will come back and say Hell to the no! But At least I asked. Have you all looked how cheap things are right now? It is insane. Well, at least we are all going and the Swine flu is all over.

Has anyone asked, or gotten any refunds in the difference in prices, or upgrades?

Just curious. Oh, and I didn't want to be greedy, I just asked for our parents who are paying for our families for the refund in difference or upgrades. Even though we could have booked the freakin Grand for our entire stay with what we paid for our portion. haha!

Ha! Oh well! I am just happy we are going and everyone is able to join us. And my Father in Law is happy I asked! I am such a dang people pleaser! Uhhh! :)

Hugs!

Bess

K, next question ... what's the skinny on the cakes? Pretty plain and simple? Is tres leches a flavor option even though it's not on the list of options on the wedding details. Gotta get that done and sent back to them! Oops ... too much to do, not enough time!!!

Also, what was the final consensus on the wedding decor available for use on the beach? They all have canopies available? How about chair sash colors?

You gals are the best! Thanks!!
I had the strawberry cheesecake and it was awesome! It was a layer of white cake then the strawberries and the cheesecake part on top in each tier.

We had pink and white chair sashes. I wanted all pink, but at that time they didn't have enough. I'm not sure what they have available now.

Depending on how full the hotel is when you get there you can ask the front desk for a room upgrade for your FIL. If they have it available, I'm sure they would do it if your TA can't get a refund for them. We got free upgrades at both the Lindo and the Grand without asking. My in-laws got upgraded from the Lindo to the Maya because their room was too far away. They asked to be moved to a closer room, but they didn't ask to be upgraded to the better hotel so it was nice surprise for them. The hotels were not fully booked when we were there so I'm surprised they didn't just move them to a closer room in the Lindo.

I haven't been on the forum too much lately, but congratulations to all the Iberostar brides that have recently gotten married!

FutureBotter,

What is the "wedding details" that you are supposed to send back to them? I haven't seen anything like that from them and my wedding is on 7/6. Did anyone else get something they are supposed to send in about wedding details? Now I am starting to think they have completely forgotten about me ; )

Thanks kathy and Michelle!

I haven't heard back from TA, I am sure I put him off...but I had to ask for the sake of my FIL's irritation from spending more than $1000 than what they are asking now. I will definitely ask when we get there. Thanks for the tips!

I finished my DIY programs tonight...I will post in a bit. I am so happy!

Ctodd8,

Iam getting married on July 3rd and I got my planning worksheet about 2 weeks ago. Reyna emailed me a 3 page document that asked about flowers, number of guests, restaurant choice etc. Since I emailed it back to her, I have been trying to get in touch with her. I have emailed her 2 or 3 times with no reply. I have also been asking if we are going to be getting married at the Del Mar/Beach or Lindo. We leave June 28th. I hope she emails before then!

Hey Bess ... I'm so sorry to hear about your dilemma. It's so hard to deal with that when you're trying to pull all the regular "to-dos" together nad get everything finalized. We all booked our trips through Apple Vacations, and bought the trip insurance ... best extra 200 we ever spent! Our trip has dropped 1700 since first booking it! So, technically we have saved 1500 so far. The insurance gaurantees us the lwest price from time of booking to the day before we fly out, which is nice. Honestly, this whole swine flu has been beneficial for our situation ... please don't hate me for saying that! WIth the way things are, I'm certain as guests, we can be a little more "pushy" because there is more available and open! Like you said, can't hurt to ask!

Ctodd8 ... It's a 4 page document that actually says "My Wedding Details" across the top ... I'll try to attach it ... let's see if I can do this ...

Michelle ... thanks for the info on the cake! Cheesecake, I think it is!! Sounds yummy!!!

Again, thanks gals! You're all amazingly wonderful!! Cou;dn't be doing this without you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
