Have you found out any information regarding the steakhouse? Is it a "private" venue? Is it open air like the the Tropical? I am wondering if we just have to go there for dinner and then plan a separate area for drinks / dancing?

Any help anyone can give me regarding the Lindo would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Jennifer

We were married at the Lindo in April. I have a few previous posts about this, so look back a few pages if you want a bit more info.

We had our rehearsal at the Seafood and reception at the Steakhouse, both which are just off the Maya lobby. They are both set up with the SAME layout, so there are semi-private areas for each. I would suggest having the dinner at the seafood because the decor is SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer than the Steakhouse. I really regretted not flip-flopping my venues because the seafood colors were much nicer and the decor was not cheesy with bullhorns like it is at the Steakhouse.

Here are a few photos of the seafood, and one of the steakhouseClick the image to open in full size.

Again, unless they told you differently, I don't think they allow dancing at these restaurants because they are open to the other patrons, as well. We had our reception in the plaza at the shopping center.

Not sure if this is accurate, but this came from Mr Iberostar:

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Reopens Two Riviera Maya Hotels

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Reopens Two Riviera Maya Hotels

As a result of the CDC and U.S. Department of State lifting travel alerts to Mexico relating to the H1N1 influenza outbreak, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts announced that the Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal hotels reopened on June 1, 2009.

Due to decreased travel to Mexico as a result of the H1N1 Virus, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts had voluntarily chosen to temporarily close some of the hotels in May. Iberostar took this proactive initiative in order to continue maintaining the high level of service that Iberostar is known for and provide guests with a memorable vacation experience.

The Iberostar Paraiso del Mar and Iberostar Paraiso Beach hotels are tentatively scheduled to open at the end of June. During the closures, Iberostar will perform previously scheduled necessary preventive maintenance and upgrades.

Iberostar continues to welcome travelers to select Mexico hotels. The following hotels are open, fully operational and treating guests to Iberostar’s world renowned service.

Iberostar Paraiso Lindo

Iberostar Paraiso Maya

Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

Iberostar Cozumel

Iberostar Tucan

Iberostar Quetzal

BBtoB,

When are you leaving for Mexico? I am leaving on June 28th. I wonder if we will be upgraded. Our wedding day is July 3rd. Maybe we will see each other. Have you heard anything form the WC or your TA? I wonder if you could get upgraded to the Grand. That would be wonderful.

I wish they would let us know soon!! I just got my luggage tags done and they day Paraiso Beach all over them.

Reyna is speaking of steakhouse at beach side. she said it is identical to tropical- open air. so everything would stay the same. Including decorations. Would be private, cocktail hr on terrace. steak restr Danielle speaks of is restr at Maya,

Thanks to everyone for all your help!! I am psychotic at this point. After everything that has happened my flight sun is cancelled, so can't go til tues. wedding thurs. so don't give me much time to finalize things, since it's all been a mess.

Say did you ask about an upgrade? I asked my TA but he didn't say anything, so should we ask the resort?

We leave on the 2nd. We upgraded for our honeymoon the last two nights at the Grand. It was pricey but I am sure it will be worth it.

At this point I will be grateful for our guests to be upgraded...but not holding our breathe. I guess I am just happy I have not had to go through what the other girls did for their upgrade, but if we get one...I will take it! :)

Ah, we will totally be at the resort on you big day! That just occured to me! If if works out it would be great to congratulate you! When are you there til?

We asked our TA for an upgrade but didn't get it through her. We got upgraded through the hotel itself since the del Mar and Beach are closed. The WC emailed us this week to let us know. I am hoping the Steakhouse on the "beach side" will still be private and we can just have the reception there as planned but haven't heard back from WC about that.

We finished our "Welcome to Mexico" brochures and wedding day timeline. We left the location of rehearsal dinner and reception TBD since we don't know too much yet.

I know it will all work out. We are over stressing about it. Our guest are super excited that our group will be upgraded! Two weeks to go!

Have any of you recent brides had any regrets with the DJ? I want to make sure that certain music gets played..... so right now we are putting everything on an Ipod and plan to be pretty much self-dj. But now I am wondering if it will end up being a waste of time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
