I had everyone under the sun telling me about the travel alerts/crime in Mexico a few months ago when we went and had to repeatedly tell people we would be fine, and we were MORE than fine...people don't understand you are in a gated resort!!! Good luck!

Thanks ya'll!!! I guess you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink is my conclusion!
I was upset over the 1,245,493 phone calls I got today after that cnn report - had a mini break down BUT Now I am okay with everyone cancelling or not or thinking bout cancelling or whatever they want to do, I don't care anymore, I just wanna think of it this way - the more that cancel the more tequila for me LOL! I still hate f-ing idiots, not that they are calling I am glad to explain but that they really don't understand how the news twists the facts and are stuck on certain points that AREN'T EVEN DETERMINED YET BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY ATOPSY REPORTS YOU DOUCSCH BAGS.Oh, and in addition i have also been recieving phone calls about the earth quake that just hit mexico city, when it rains it pours! I just spoke with my fiance and he said I shouldn't say to people "feel free to cancel if you are concerned, I don't want you to do anything you don't feel safe in doing" he said it was rude to say or that it would come across as rude?!?! WTF What should I say... Is that rude?
I actually feel a little better thanks for letting me rant.

Hi ladies.

My future in-laws are refusing to go and are now telling my fiance that they "forbid" him to go. I am beyond pissed and we are both sad and now we don't know what to say to each other. I know he wants his parents to be there, but they are forcing us into an impossible decision.

Ugh!!!

Danielle - lol people like to make moutains out of molehills, I swear! Mexico City isn't even anywhere NEAR the Maya Riviera lol!! That's funny! I don't think it's rude to say that...maybe if you just worded it a bit more gently like "I understand your health and safety concerns and if you feel that taking this trip would be jeoparidizing your personal health and safety, please do not feel pressured to attend our wedding". Saying it like that kind of puts the ball back in their court, know what I mean? :)

That is a great way of putting it too!! wink.gif

dbellie-how frustrating!! Rant all you want, I would be too! I don't think it's rude at all, what do they think people could have predicted this happening? And the resort is on the Yucatan Pennisula.....again NO WHERE NEAR MEXICO CITY!!!

We'll all be thinking of you, keep us posted!

Hey Gail,

Not sure if I can help, but let me know if you think I can. I was just married at Iberostar Beach on April 15th. Though I met with Gabriella at the start of the week, I didn't see her again for the rest of our trip. Only saw and sw Reyna and her assistant Yanin after that. Not sure, but Gabriella may now be gone. Reyna must be swamped. Not really sure how they do it. Even though they only have one wedding a day, it seemed like Reyna and Yanin were on top of everything and were everywhere to make sure everything was great. Not sure how they ever found time to reply to all my e-mailssad.gif

They really should be keeping on top of it though as it can be frustrating for future brides. Really though, Reyna is so sweet and lovely once you meet her, you will love her. If there's anything I can help with let me know.

Will be posting review in Review forum in next few days with some pics.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
