I always thought that it stood for "destination husband"? No? lol. I usually just make something up that I feel makes some sort of sense!

Right up until yesterday, the WC said Spanish translation is needed. They really need to get it together. Valuable time & money is spent going through this process. This makes absolutely no sense! I don't know if the WCs realize the red tape & running around involved to obtain these documents.

Well, you've put my mind at ease.... THANK YOU.
Did they seriously tell you that the Spanish translation is needed? All I can say is that we showed up with the long version of our birth certificates in English at our meeting, Toni took them and photocopied them and gave them back to us. Nothing was ever said about having translated copies and we had no issues with having a legal ceremony. I just don't get it and am so frustrated by this entire issue with the resort.

Have you been dealing with Toni or Lilyhuh.gif

Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions! We are doing the civil ceremony. I read the transcript that you posted (Beach Bride). I didn't notice anything about putting the rings on. I take it that you don't do the whole "with this ring I thee wed stuff". When during the ceremony do you exchange rings?

Thanks again for all of your help!

Jenn
Jenn,

No worries about bombarding with questions! I had so many questions and don't know what I would've done without this site. I know that I'll try my best to answer as many as I can when I'm on here!

We exchanged rings as we were saying our vows (which are not in the script that Paraisobeachbride posted and are not in the copy of ours either). When it was time to say our vows, the judge asked us if we had prepared our own. We hadn't, so she went ahead with the traditional "I Kristin, take you Ryan..." and had us repeat after her. We exchanged rings at this point.

Thanks for posting this Kristin, this is probably why I couldn't find that part in the stuff I posted. You're right, this is exactly what they did at our ceremony too. I also told Gabriela ahead of time that we wanted the traditional vows. :)

We are going to go with traditional vows as well. We have so much to do to write our own! I will be a nervous wreck so I think someone telling me exactly what to say will be much better than me on my own!

Thanks again for all of your help!

I am sure I will have a million other questions between now and June! :)

I specifically asked about the Spanish translation on Wednesday and Lily responded within a few hours saying it was necessary. My question was VERY direct and I even wrote in the subject line "Civil/Legal Ceremony Documents- Spanish Translation for Birth Certificates." In addition, I made it a point not to ask about anything else in my email just to avoid any confusion.

I've been dealing with Toni mostly. She's been great with getting me information and addressing my concerns. Every once in a while, I would receive a response from Lily.

FI & I have been discussing this all week... we're leaning towards just rolling the dice & taking our chances without the Spanish translation. I already have the Apostille & our certified/notorized birth certificates. I seriously do not want to jump through any unnecessary hoops. My father speaks fluent Spanish so I may have him call one day just to hear what the WCs have to say.

I can't believe all of the discrepencies in the info. these resorts are giving out. When we piciked Iberostar s our resort over a year agoI thought it was going to be easy going. Everything seemed so cut and dry....now it seems they want to charge for every little thing and each wedding planner does thing a little different!

I am just now really starting to plan. I had my guests RSVP by Feb 1 and there are still people who say they are coming yet, they still haven't booked. My wedding is July 3rd should I have my planning sheet from the resort yet? Do you think I should contact them or wait and be patient?

Hi Sunandrun...M y wedding is two days after yours. Yay! I received my wedding document about a month ago to be completed and turned in 1 month before the wedding. So yes, I would say they should have gotten this to you! Contact away! :) But no worries, you have lots of time to complete it, but it will help you think of all the details needed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
