Hi Michelle,

We are thinking of upgrading on our wedding night for a total of two nights at the Grand. logistically, do you think it would be worth it for only two nights to for us to pack up and move? Is the Grand very far from the Lindo? Most likley we will be going back and forth since some of are friends will still be at the Lindo and we will go hang out with them for a bit. Any suggestions? We are torn.

Thanks!
Bess

Hi,

I'm quite new to this forum and I'm still at the stage of researching for a resort. I am getting a little overwhelmed now with all the info. Anyway, from reading this thread, it seems to me that a few of the brides' TA communicated with the WC and get pictures for their client. I'm from Calgary, Canada and my TA had requested that I contacted the WC for all the resorts that I'm looking into and get info directly from the WC myself. So, I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong..Any comments?

Hey there! My TA told me to do the same thing, which agency are you using? I have been corresponding with the wc (Gabriela at Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar/Beach) and she always responds within 48 hrs. Let me know if I can help you out with anything! :)

I think it all depends on if you are getting what you want from the Wedding Coordinators!?!? I was going to work with a TA that wanted me to do all the specifics of the actual wedding with the wedding coordinator directly and I too contacted all the WC at different resorts before we decided... After we decided on a resort (the Iberostar Chain) and the WC (at the Del Mar) wasn't giving us what we wanted we decided to switch TA's (in our case this TA was just lazy and didn't want to do the work)! We figured if our TA is going to be making a hell of a commission (regardless of what b.s. they say that they don't) they should be working for it - not us - we are the ones paying! SOOOOoooo we got a new TA! Our new TA now communicates directly with the WC and doesn't want us to send/talk anything directly with the WC. Certain emails I type up and send to our TA and she forwards them on but our TA is like the intermediate of getting us what we want, keeping us on track, and making sure the wc responds in a timely manor (ummm, all the things the wc wasn't doing for us previously). So I guess it depends if you don't mind doing it and are getting what you want - don't fix something that isn't broken :)
Do you think your TA should be communicating with the WC?

OOOhhh, I still have a ton of info. from a bunch of wc at different resorts if you aren't sure on the Iberostar chain and a ton of informaiton on the iberostar chain too. I can send you what I got if you are interested - shoot me your email? What helped us decide is making a list of wedding 'must haves' and resort 'must haves' than we went from there... We choose the Iberostar chian because our group can stay at any of the 5 hotels and still come to the wedding (our family doesn't all get along - so just one hotel containing all our family might make for a pretty big catastrophe!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
