I have a question about the limit of nights you can eat at the A la carte restaurants. Do they limit you to just 3? i have seen that a couple of places. Thanks!
We were not told of any limit, but we also didn't make reservations every night. We were busy running around so we ate at the buffet once and did room service one night at the Lindo. We made 2 reservations at the Grand, but we went back to the Maya Steakhouse on our last night since it was so good on the wedding day.

BTW there seemed be quite a bit of talk about Civil vs. Religious ceremony. It varies from State to State on marriage requirements. No idea about Canada. But in Colorado you can get a marriage license at the City and County Bulding and then sign it right there and you are married. It is $10 and you are done. You of course need the right identification etc. But Couples themselves may solemnize their own marriage in Colorado.

I called the courthouse and did some research but this is a heck of a lot easier than the hoops they make you jump though in MX. Not sure about Canada. But worth checking into to see if you can do it ahead of time. We were also willing to go to the JofP, but since it was not necessary we will skip that. :)

Hi Lyssa... I thought the cigar roller was a cute idea. How much did the cigar roller cost? Do you know what the average cost of a cigar was? Or did the price include the cigars for the guests? Did you use an outside vendor or someone from the resort's cigar bar?
Any additional info is appreciated. THANKS!!!

Michelle - Thank you!! Once we moved to the Lindo on Sunday I was on the lookout for people with your wedding - but didn't find anyone - haha. Glad to hear you had a good time!

As far as the questions regarding the cigar roller and Catamaran:

Cigar Roller: Our coordinator set this up for us, and they got the same person who sits in the lobby at night to roll cigars. The cost was $7 per cigar, and he told us the total at the end of the night ($230) we gave him $280 to include tip and he ended up giving us the extra cigars he had made (like 10 of them!!) for no charge. Our guests really liked having him there, even the people that don't smoke enjoyed watching him as something else to do during the cocktail hour.

Catamaran: I used Akumel, they do have smaller catamarans that are less expensive but the one we rented was $2,000 for 3 hours and could accommodate 100 people. The transportation was $8 per person and open bar and appetizers were $17 per person so we paid about $3,000 total. All of our guests ended up going on the boat and even the people that were nervous about it or get seasick on other boats had an awesome time (no one got sick either!).

Please feel free to ask any questions - I know that reading other people's reviews was SO helpful for me, it is hard planning a DW when you can't see everything in advance!

Congrats on the wedding!!! Thanks for all the information! We're getting married at the Del Mar too and your review was sooo awesome! I was concerned with the garden gazebo but from your review it looks like there is no reason to worry. Does Akumel catamarans have a website or do you have their contact info?!? we would love to do something like this too! I was wondering did you get a chance to eat at the Brazilian steakhouse, just wondering how it was? I can't wait to see your pics! Thanks.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
