I didn't think it was necessary - I just want everyone to be able to meet. It seemed more casual and easy this way. I didn't plan on bringing the welcome bags - but since a lot of the guests will be on the same flight as me, or get in earlier it totally makes sense! Thanks for the tip! 9 days until I arrive at the Lindo...
I just thought handing them out at the meet and greet would be easier than arranging to have them put in the rooms. I'm all about the easy route! :)

9 Days!!!! How exciting! Are you all ready to go?

I have been reading this thread from the beginning. I love all of the useful info. Has anyone thought about doing a reception at the Aqua Bar. I read on the Iberostar-Board forum that someone had done that. The Aqua Bar is right by the pool. We were thinking about doing that or just using it for a 2-3 hour cocktail hour...depending on the number of people that book. I don't have any good pictures of the Aqua Bar and that makes me a little nervous. What do you girls think?

I think I am ready to go! Lots of little things, but trying not to really stress out - it's supposed to be easy and less stressful right?

A note about the Aqua Bar - I also was thinking (and for a while was sure) about doing a reception there. I don't think they actually let you rent the Aqua Bar but you can use the area by the pool bar Las Olas that is there. I don't know what you are looking for, but I wanted to have music and dancing and they highly suggested that I rent the Vitrales room (which I am doing) so that it is a little more private. The Aqua Bar is open with other people around, and they don't let you play music after maybe 9pm? because there are lots of rooms around. Tough - I really wanted that type of atmosphere, but hope the Vitrales room is going to be great. My wedding is small too - about 25 guests.

I am almost certain you can rent the Aqua bar. But I see that SSCHANO is getting married next month and maybe she could check out the area and let SUNANDRUN how it all looks. Since your wedding isn't until next year you still have time before you make your final decision. P.S I'm also from Denver!

Question: We are getting married in Riviera Maya next June at an off-site location but are planning to have our guests stay at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. We're in the process of gathering information on the stay and were wondering if anyone can give us some helpful advice/details on securing a group rate. In all likelihood, we'll be requiring 30-35 rooms from the Iberostar and were curious what the best plan of attack for securing a group rate would be. Through a travel agent? Through the Iberostar directly?

Please drop a reply line if you can help.

We went through a TA to get our group quote. They required 10 deposits to secure the group rate...we knew we had that right away with just our immediate family. I know that some people put the deposit down for the 10 spots themselves (and then take it off of their trip once others have paid the deposit). We let our family know ahead of time and were lucky that they were ready to put their own deposit down.
I would definitely recommend going through a TA rather than the Iberostar directly-JMO. I really don't know how much of a savings you actually get! We lucked out as with 26 guests we get 1 free trip (and we are close to getting a 2nd trip free!).
Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
